STARZ is set to deliver a pulse-pounding new drama series with the premiere of “Fightland” on Friday, July 31. The network has unveiled first-look photos that offer a glimpse into the gritty and dangerous world of British boxing.
A Family Crime Drama from Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson
Executive-produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson through his G-Unit Film & Television, “Fightland” is a gripping tale of redemption, betrayal, and ambition in the criminal underworld. Howard Charles stars as Duke Kilroy, a disgraced boxing champion who returns to London after eight years behind bars to seek vengeance against the crime syndicate he believes betrayed him.
The Gritty World of British Boxing
On the night Duke becomes world heavyweight champion, his brother Calvin is killed in a vicious assault. This tragic event sends Duke into prison and sets the stage for his bloody pursuit of revenge. Alongside Duke are Nicholas Pinnock as Kingsley Marshall, the criminal kingpin and former promoter, and Deborah Ayorinde as Joy, who happens to be the love of Duke’s life.
A Cast of Dangerous Characters
The cast also includes Anita-Joy Uwajeh as Cebella “Cece” Marshall, Charles Babalola as Ezekiel “Zeek” Marshall, Tahirah Sharif as Kim Harper, Tyler Conti as Justin “Jay” Hall, and Richard Pepple as Gary “Gazzer” Kilroy. Their characters populate a volatile criminal landscape where family dynamics aren’t always what they seem.
A World of Money and Power
As Duke infiltrates Kingsley’s empire to destroy it from within, he must navigate competing influences that threaten to pull him off course. This high-stakes game is set against the backdrop of London’s drug market controlled by a cartel desperate for power.
“Fightland” marks STARZ’s first wholly owned series as the network continues to bolster its fully owned programming pipeline as a standalone company. The premium streaming platform aims to deliver inclusive, adult storytelling that resonates with women and underrepresented audiences.
