Ghostbusters finally has a cast… and it’s AWFUL

The Ghostbusters reboot finally has a cast and I’m very disappointed. It was a movie that’s been stuck in development for 10 years too long and I was pretty sure it would never be made in the original incarnation that was proposed. Knowing this, and with tons of rumors, I was pretty sure that studios might go with the all female cast, which is great, but my worst predictions came true with the “powers that be” choosing an incredibly predictable cast due to their fear of creating a box-office dud and went the super cliche route of ensuring the film will be directed by Paul Feig and starring Kristen Wiig. Ever since “Bridesmaids” I’m pretty sure the folks in Hollywood have developed a syndrome in that it’s shun-worthy to say “Paul Feig” without impulsively mentioning Kristen Wiig in the same breath and this enraging choice is exactly what I was hoping would not happen.

Feig, Wiig, and McCarthy rarely veer from their comfort zones and the announcement makes one feel that the movie has fallen into the world of “predictability” and that they will likely try to shoe-horn the Ghostbusters mythos into their brand of comedy. That kind of stuff doesn’t work for me. I’d rather that they got the cast of TV’s “The League” and let those guys be the new Ghostbusters or at least write the script as I think it’d be a better match for Ghostbusters than what is we’re getting now.

highly disappointed. highly disappointed.

Ghostbusters is now DEAD. May it Rest In Peace…
