Danny DeVito to voice The Lorax

It has been sometime since we’ve seen a Dr. Seuss book adapted for the big screen, and it’s no surprise that during these environmentally cautious times that The Lorax would make his way onto the silver screen. Danny DeVito will be voicing The Lorax who speaks on behalf of the trees who cannot speak for themselves, to protect them from the villainous Once-ler who wants to chop them all down for profit.

Now I must say I am sorry to hear that they didn’t use Al Gore to voice The Lorax and rename him The Gorax haha what a bad joke. Anyway, Danny will be a delight to see in this, and I’m really happy they didn’t decide to make this into a live action flick but I’m sure it’ll still get tagged as a 3-D film. Either way Dr. Seuss films always bring a smile to my face as they just overfill me with nostalgia, I can only hope they start adapting Robert Munch books.

  1. Does anyone think that we’ve had enough “enviro-films” for a while, especially in kids’ movies?

I remember as a kid getting hammered with all of that eco-crud back in the 80’s in school and I’m fairly jaded and desensitized to the whole issue. Are today’s kids not getting the “give a hoot, don’t pollute” campaign anymore?

  2. Horton Hears a Who wasn’t that long ago was it?

Is Blue Sky gonna do it again? cause they got the look of that last one down pat. Although the voice actors on that one were overdone in my opinion. Now that I think of it the only one I truly enjoyed and the one that was most faithful to the source material without branchin off in silly directions that take away from source was Chuck Jones’version of “The Grinch” . the others are o.k., but that one still holds up the best.

The Live versions are almost unwatchable and a little cynical for my taste(in childrens movies)

    1. I 100% agree with you, The Grinch was the only live action one I truly enjoyed. I find that the illustrations are so whacky and fun that when you try to turn something like that into a live action film it often ruins it for me.
