The Experiment – Trailer

Paul Scheuring’s THE EXPERIMENT remake now has a trailer. Never heard of it? That is probably because it is suppose to go straight to DVD. The film follows Travis (Adrien Brody) who signs up for a psychological experiment to make some extra cash to take his girlfriend on vacation. The experiment in question takes place within a vacant prison where the 26 men are quickly separated into half prison guards and half prison occupants. From there the experiment quickly heads south with prison guards having power trips and the criminals becoming criminals.

The film stars Adrien Brody and Forrest Whittaker which is pretty surprising for a straight to DVD feature, especially since the trailer itself seems interesting enough to watch in theaters. Either way, I believe the film actually looks pretty good and I will most likely watch it just to see how the experiment ends.

  1. This movie looks really cool! :D I want to see it! And I think it’s pretty strange that it’s not just going to theaters ’cause besides Adrien and Forrest, there’s a lot of other known actors in there that I saw in the trailer. Lots of familiar faces.

  2. The real experiment was called the “Stamford Prison Experiment”. It was meant as kind of a follow up to the famous Milgrim Experiment (where participants thought they were shocking people). The “Stamford Prison Experiment” didn’t even continue through the alloted time because the students involved started developing roles based on the way the system is designed. It was to show how the prison system de-humanizes inmates and the types of power dynamics that develop. I case you couldn’t tell I was a psych. major. This is some great stuff and would make an interesting feature film.

  3. The original is absolutely incredible!! I recommend it to anyone who can get their hands on it! It has one of my favorite foreign actors; Moritz Bleibtreu, best known for this and The Baader Meinhoff Complex…which is also an outstanding film. Check out the original if you have a chance guys, it’s a contemporary classic.

  4. I;ve heard of this experiment. They did it in real life some years back to understand how Nazi German soldiers could do some of the things they did. Pretty trippy stuff. The experiment participants were normal, average people but did terrible things to each other after a time in this experiment. Should make an interesting movie.
