This IS Captain America’s costume

Just a quick update guys. Yesterday we got some cool fan sketches/drawings interpreting someone’s description of the exclusive look he got of what may be Captain America’s costume and shield in the film. Today we get a big update…

AICN reports:

Mike Sampson over at JoBlo has confirmed that the pieces appearing below are the same images/designs he saw last week. I.e. the ones he described so wonderfully, which lead to the reader submitted mock-ups we covered yesterday.

I think they look great. You can even see a glimpse of what Chris Evans will look like when he becomes Captain America. The design looks amazing, and the retro vibe is pretty cool. I approve of this costume.

Do you guys approve?

  1. What happen to the wing emblems on the helmet?

Doe’s Captain America carry a side arm? one picture shows holster and the the others do not show it?

When is the trailer for Captain America going to be released?

  2. I am a fan of the wings also, but as others have said this will do and actually looks much better than I expected.

What I am most concerned with is the shield. In the two made for television movies I have seen of Captain America, the shield was always pathetic and almost toy like.

They really need to get the shield right or this will be a big fail.

    1. @frank: He doesn’t normally have a utility belt.
@karma: the A is classic they took the wings off. They can’t change everything.
@Anti-Septic: They should just borrow the shield Quesada gave Colbert.

      Not entirely pleased or disappointed.

  3. i dont like that A in the mask, it doesnt look bad, just that is redundant. i mean, the guy has a red white and blue suit and a star in the chest… next thing hell do will be to wear a flag as a cape

  4. Only issue I have is with the “A” on his helmet. I think it would look better a little bigger. Overall the costume doesn’t look bad at all, Approved!

  5. Hey can anyone tell me what sort of things he carries in his utility belt? I never read Cap America comics as a kid so i don’t know much about him, thanks.

  6. Compared to Iron Man and the concept art pics of Thor, he is going to look ridiculous. A good example of how hard it is to nail the transition from page to film. Looks like it came from the same crew who did those hokey JAS getups from Smallville!

  7. This looks epic. Nice job! Most super hero costumes just look cheesy by their nature when transcribed into the real world due to the tights and bright colors those comic illustrators love(ed). I mean just look at Superman: As iconic as the costume is, it’s still a man in red underwear and bright blue tights.

Anyway I think this one is well done. I like the brown boots and gloves, which ground in reality more so than bright red boots and gloves. I think it’s fun to have a little cheesiness in there so this a good balance. Let’s just all agree to stay away from the tights, forever. And yeah, thank Zeus no wings.

  8. Pic 3 is epic. I hope this movie works. Cap and Iron Man have always been my fav marvel chars growing up. Cap is so hard to pull off though in film i feel. His costume is so cheesy and iconic and his personality is hard to convey in my opinion in film. THey really have to go internal on him because externally he is the patriot all about preserving liberty. We need to see inside the difficulties of his circumstances and his struggle to find a place in the world.

  9. I like it, more vibe to Ultimates than conventional Cap America. A mic between retro and contemporary looks. Can’t wait to see it realize on film

  10. I like it. I kind of wish they had icorperated a little more WWII military uniform into it like Ultimate Cap, but I think this will work well too. It’s not overdone at all, and reguardless of what I WANT to see, there are definately some 40’s era clothing influences there.

    1. lol. yeah…i understand you comment lol
If they had let them in some way…I was not going to hate the costume for just that detail…
but I understand that it can seem “cheezy” or “to comic-bookish”…

love the design as it is. pretty cool stuff…

I can hear some people around the world, already starting to built/make-up their halloween custom Caps costumes…
