Gulliver’s Travels Trailer Online

A trailer for the latest Jack Black film is online. Black will star as the titular role in Gullivers Travels – the fairy tale of a man who finds himself stranded on an island who’s inhabitants are very tiny people and he suddenly finds himself a giant among men.

I am first off shocked that a movie with Jason Segel, Emily Blunt, Romany Malco, Billy Connolly, T.J. Miller, and Amanda Peet that Jack Black is considered the headliner. Secondly, if the movie is taking place on this island of tiny people – why is so much attention spent on establishing him as a lowly mailroom worker? And the love interest with Peet? Presumably he would return to his own world and be conflicted about sharing the secret with Peet, but it all seems like a LOT of setup for a story that should be taking place on the island.

Arg! As usual, I am already tired of Jack Black’s antics. I used to just love his silliness, but it wore thin on me.

  1. And of course it’s going to be in DIGITAL 3-D!

It will be a silly romp for the kiddies at Christmas time. Why not put Jack Black in it? I’ll see it. However, why show it in 3-D? I will vote with my wallet and NOT see it in 3-D. Anyone else want to join me?

Judging by the trailer, he’s the lead in the movie..so why wouldn’t they put him up front. PLUS, head to head I bet more people know who Jack Black is compared any one of those names you listed.
    Why is that so shocking?

  3. Yet another classic butchered. Sometimes I think there is a producer who has a really big hate on for an old English teacher, and just makes these movies to get back at them.

    1. MY GOD! That WAS Catherine Tate! Awesome. For the uninitiated, she’s a hysterical British comedian. Very big over there. Has had multiple shows, specials and also co-starred in Season 4 of Doctor Who.

What a nice surprise to see her in a mainstream film.
