Anton Yelchin to Star in Fright Night Remake

Anton Yelchin is to star in a Remake of the horror classic Fright Night.

Get the Big Picture shares:

The remake of Fright Night is beginning to take shape, with Craig Gillespie (Lars and the Real Girl) signing up to direct the update and now, according to Heat Vision Blog, Gillespie’s production has landed Anton Yelchin for the starring role.

Yelchin, who was in two high-profile summer movies last May (Trek and Terminator) will play the Charley Brewster role originated by William Ragsdale.

I had pretty high hopes for Anton Yelchin as he was taking on some pretty high profile roles, but this feels like a step back to me.

The presumably PG-13 remake of the horror cult classic just doesn’t seem to deserve Anton Yelchin. At very least it will get me interested in what happens with Fright Night.

  1. Everytime this comes up I always make the same suggestion for McDowells role.

    ELVIRA!!!!!

Perfect fit, ageing B movie Actor (Actress in this case) with comedic timing. it would be BRILLIANT!!

  2. It’s not a bad choice. I’d still wish they would leave well enough alone (at the very LEAST don’t aim for a PG-13 folks, but go R. Is it too much to ask?) and yes, 420, Roddy McDowell was Peter Vincent, The Great Vampire Killer. I don’t know who could fill those shoes (I’d suggest Doug Bradley, Jeffery Combs or Christopher Lee)

  3. Checkov’s in this?

This could be a fun re-visit. I liked the original when it came out. good family fun in the spirit of “Love at first bite” (that should get a redo as well)

wasnt Rodney Dowell (guy from Planet of the apes)IN THIS AS THE VAMPIRE HUNTER?

    My memorys shot
