Magic Wand to Control your Home Theater

With all the wonder and magic of technology bringing your favourite films to your own living room’s home theater, its just a matter of time before we get real magic happening.

Now Harry Potter fans can buy a Universal TV Remote in the form of a Magic Wand. Yes, the wand is “real” and is not just some gimmicked prop with a panel full of buttons. It tracks your delicate motions as you command your television with a twist and a flick of your wrist.

Worst Previews shares:

It uses an on board processor and accelerometer to control your IR devices from your hand movements. There are no buttons, just thirteen predefined hand gestures (clockwise turn, downward thrust, etc) that can be programmed to turn up the volume, change channels, control your iPod, or turn on your IR lamp.

I can totally see me owning one of these things and making sure I have one of those IR controlled lamps so I can flick my wand at it and say “Luminatus!”

The want will be on sale October 1st for about $85 bucks.

  1. As long as it has an off feature so that it doesn’t turn off the TV when you set it down.
Or maby they could always be off except for when you hold down a button on the handle. I would Buy that!

  2. LOL, great, now I want one.

Pretty freakin’ cool indeed. Take the popularity of the Harry Potter series and the cool technology from the Nintendo Wii and whola! The coolest home thearter remote ever made.

Now if only thay’d come out with one that makes you feel more like your using Jedi force powers to control your electronics, insead of swinging around a not so cool fansy stick, that’d be even better. :P

  3. As much as that songs like an awesome concept, just that fact that it’s a wand is kind of a let down in my eyes (I was never a big fan of Harry Potter sorry)

It would be interesting to see if they could adapt it to something a bit more modern (or futuristic lol)
