Will Ferrell replaces Robert Downey Jr in OoberMind

Looks like Robert Downey Jr is being replaced as the lead voice actor in Dreamwork’s answer to the Incredibles. In that void will be Will Ferrell instead.

/Film describes the film as:

The superhero comedy project formerly titled Master Mind is being produced by Ben Stiller, written by Alan J. Schoolcraft and Brent Simons., and directed by Tom McGrath, co-helmer of the Madagascar films. When super villain Oobermind (Ferrell) defeats his arch-rival Metro Man (Pitt), the world should be his oyster. But instead, Oobermind falls into total despair. It turns out that life without a rival is life without a point for him. So he creates a new superhero rival named Titan (Hill). Unfortunately, the new hero wants to be a super villain too. Who can we turn to? Who has what it takes to stand up to this menace? Who will defend the innocent? Oobermind

I can’t help but be wary about OoberMind, as on the surface it does sound like an Incredibles ripoff. But it has a different story, and may just turn out to be a good film. I don’t discard other comic book adaptations because there are others out there, so I am trying to remain positive.

RDJ would have been a nice touch for the voice of OoberMind, but Ferrell can do a good job too. I used to just love Ferrell, but just got sick of hiss style of comedy, so I hope this doesn’t turn into a “Ferrell Comedy”

He does kind of look like the character though.

      1. ‘Another studio does a 3d movie about what happens after the superheroes are gone.’ thats such a loose comparision not obvious at all in that case all films are ‘Obvious Rip offs’ of something else

  1. Well, the Incredibles was a ginormous ripoff from F4 so whatever.
And some of the side characters where extremely MARVELish.

And this is weird, RDJ and Ferrel have 2 completely different voices…like…COMPLETELY different…I usually wouldnt mind about casting for an animated movie unless the voices are this different…Wtf?

  2. How can you worry about this being a ripoff of the Incredibles when the Incredibles was a ripoff of the Fantastic Four? I’m tired of movies like this pretending to be comic book adaptations when they are just ripoffs of old comic books. Wow, I’ve never typed ripoff so much in one paragraph.

    1. The Incredibles themselves were amalgamous to the FF, but the story wouldn’t have worked with FF so thats where the comparison ends.

I already said in the post that there is going to be an obvious comparison but with a completely different story it could still be a good film.
