New Batch Of Sherlock Holmes Pics

I’ve been pretty excited about the upcoming Sherlock Holmes movie ever since I found out that Guy Ritchie (director of two of my all time favorite movies, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch) was going to be helming them. Then I got more excited when the cast got announced (Robert Downey Jr, Jude Law and Rachel McAdams). What’s not to love?

Anyway, a new batch of pics from the film have made their way online by way of The USA Today

The article is worth a read. It mentions that in this flick Holmes has a sort of martial arts and boxing background, but as Ritchie points out, there are all things that are alluded to in the original Arthur Conan Doyle tales.

It also mentions that Dr. Watson is portrayed more like Holmes’ peer rather than a bumbling sidekick.

The movie is as much about the relationship between Holmes and Watson as it is the mystery itself (which I think is a positive thing.

Like I said, the article is worth a read. For now, here are the pics:

  1. The only real problem I have at present is that last photo. If there was to be any gunplay, that was Watson’s department. It was part of Holmes’ code; no killing. He carried a gun, but not often. The only other thing is Watson not being older. But I suppose there’s more sense in a younger person learning from an older person, rather than the other way around.Otherwise, looks great! I can’t wait for Christmas… for another reason now!

    1. well if you want to relate it back to original story Holmes is only holding the gun not firing it (yet). Hopefully they remembered the story and will make him give it to Watson or something.

As for Watson being young there is no harm in it. If he was old he would have to remain a sidekick, but as mentioned he will be more of a peer then a sidekick. Having him young for this was the right way to go IMO.

  2. IMO Downey can do no wrong right now. He’s the finest actor working today easily. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang should have had a lot more success and recognition. Such a great film. Eagerly awaiting this.

  3. The photos look great! I can’t wait for this movie. I hope it’s a commercial success…hopefully that would also give ritchie a chance to make another rock n rolla continuation and tie the stories a little better. These photos do look great though.

    1. I would rather it be a critical success than a commercial success. Spiderman 3 was a commercial success as was Meat the Spartans, Scary Movies, and whole bunch of other flicks that were absolute trash.
