Can’t argue that Will Farrell is funny, but he is one of those guys that just plays the same funny every time so its starting to get tired on me.
I used to watch the original series with my mom when I was just a wee one, so there is a nostalgia factor, but there is also Anna Friel. So I am in.

I’m just curious what kind of funny you want from him in this movie? I don’t think you’ll ever have luck with any comedian if this is the way you feel..maybe you should just stick to comic book movies or action or drama i don’t think comedy is for you…Either way agree to disagree..
I’m really not sure on you want himt o act in this movie? Its a comedy? He is a comedian? He is just giving the performance that was EXPECTED from the company that hired him…they didn’t hire him for this role be be a different kind of funny…he is DOING WHAT HE DOES BEST and that’s being will ferrell and its genuinely funny. I seriously wanna know what kind of acting you were look for from him in this movie?!?! And i’ve seen the seens several times and laughed hysterically everytime…what is so similar form his other movies give me and example? But not before you answer my other questions…

He is the same kind of funny in everything he is in, just with a different job. I agree that he is a really funny guy. But he is the same funny all the time.
Im just tired of it. I can anticipate his gags, and I see it coming. That’s all.
Once again I have to ask the same question…How can you tell he is playing the same character…when the trailer is only 45 seconds long?!? You gathered all this information from 45 seconds? Maybe you should wait untill the movies comes out and you watch it..before you start criticizing him or the movie? I mean that’s just a thought…
Also what jokes in this 45 second trailer did he re-use I’d really like to know? Plus I’m sick of hearing that benn stiller or seth rogen or micheal cera…and lastly will ferrell all play the same character…thats why we love them!!! It sales and its funny everytime!!! But its also simply not true in will ferrell and ben stiller’s case…these guys have both had sketch comedy shows and we know they are capable of playing different parts…you shouldnt be so quick to judge! Specially when the movie hasn’t even came out!
You are right Mark. It is clear that in this movie he acts completely different than all his other comedy characters that thus far have been the same guy with a different job.
Clearly the studio chose to show ONLY clips of him acting with the same comedy stylings he attaches to all of his on screen personalities.

He was funny the first 8-10 movies that he did this. I am just saying it gets tired after a while and loses its appeal. I am glad you can still enjoy his act. Its just wearing thin on me.
I couldn’t disagree with you more…you really have a thing against the frat-pack and it pisses me off everytime i see you bad mouth these guys..will ferrell is genius and semi-pro was hilarious..i dont care if it did “tank” it was funny as fuck..and I love how you can say he is playing the same character as he always does in this movie…when the trailer is barely over a minute…plus he has a beard in this movie and plays a professor…. i dont see any kind of resemblance of any of the other characters he has done?!?!?! QUIT HATING ON WILL FERRELL!!!!!
He is a professor… or a Race Car Driver, Sports Star or a TV Reporter, or anything else he has done. He is just the same personality with a new job.

I like his comedy, but if you hear the same joke too many times no matter how hard it made you laugh the first time, it becomes less funny.

it’s pretty tough to reinvent yourself as a comedic actor, since comedy is based on the unexpected. i don’t know of anyone that’s done it.
I’ve hated most Will Ferrell movies in the last few years, but I think this looks hilarious.
Although I’m a bit biased as I love all things Dinosaurs, and I loved both of the old Land of the Lost TV shows.

There were some shots that tipped the hat to the Syd & Marty Kroft…but this did not impress me. It could work, but I think Will is out of place. Yeah…he was funny in Last year’s SB ad too.
And Semi-Pro still stunk….and tanked.
This movie could have been good, but not with Will in it.
Actually, I could argue that he’s not funny. But maybe that’s beside the point. Seeing this spot last night, I thought the same thing as you. Same character all over again. This time with giant crabs.
Odd thing is my roommate (who is a fan of Farrell), goes, “Man, he’s selling out.” Uhhhh… Yeah, he shoulda stuck to Shakespeare adaptations.
I liked him in “Stranger than fiction” and “Melinda and Melinda” but almost everything else he’s been in, with a few exceptions, he just comes off as annoying.
