Van Damme Mockumentary Coming to America

The Muscles from Brussels is making a comeback to film in a way not dared since Pauly Shore killed himself. Jean Claude Van Damme will be in a mockumentary where he will play himself.

Now we discover that this film is not only coming to the Toronto International Film Fest, but a Canadian has acquired distribution rights for North America and intends to release it to the western world in early fall!

Canadian producer Peace Arch Entertainment has picked up North American rights to the Jean-Claude Van Damme-starring parody “JCVD” ahead of its North American bow at the Toronto International Film Festival.

In the Mabrouk El Mechri-directed mockumentary from Gaumont, Van Damme plays himself in the midst of a hostage situation in his native Belgium.

Toronto-based Peace Arch intends a fall release for the movie, which was acquired as part of a joint venture recently struck between the Canadian company and Britain’s ContentFilm.

Last I heard of this project Van Damme shows up at the auditions for the role of Van Damme. So funny.

They say you cannot laugh unless you can laugh at yourself, and Jean-Claude must have the giggles like no one else right now. Classy guy.

  1. Of all the people to make a self mocking comedy, Van Damme is quite possibly the last person I would have ever thought would do a movie like this. I’m glad to see it got a distribution deal. I might just have to check it out.
