FanExpo 2008 – Bouncy!

Lemme ‘splain… no, is too much. Let me sum up.

For about 7 years or so I have been writing for John here at the MovieBlog as well as the far lesser known movie site John used to run that just did movie reviews.

I just happened to fall into this gig since John and I were friends for years, lived together (Doug lived there too sorta), competed for the same girl (it was no competition, but I let him win anyways). John started a little site doing movie reviews and I helped him out putting up reviews of my own. I paid my dues (he made me review Thomas the Tank Engine) and eventually when The MovieBlog.com came along, I started to write for this as well.

I’m just a normal guy surrounded by extraordinary people. John did more with this site than anyone ever expected (even John) and I got to come along for the ride. For that I am forever grateful.

And this weekend I get to go to FanExpo in Toronto as a member of press and get to be in the same room as people like Henry Winkler and Buzz Aldrin. Who the hell am I??? Just a normal guy given an extraordinary set of circumstances.

So that is why I posted the video. Elephants are physically incapable of jumping. True fact. So this video, albeit insanely entertaining, shows an elephant enjoying a trampoline. And he doesn’t hold back. Flips and all. Watch the vid. Its just awesome.

This is why I will be bouncing tomorrow morning at FanExpo. This elephant can’t jump and John just gave me a Trampoline!

So go check out the FanExpo website It’s the Canadian version of ComicCon. Its smaller, but its like saying its only half as big as Texas. That’s still big. There is a listing of all the celebs and vendors etc who will be in attendance. If there is ANYTHING of interest that you want to see covered, put it in the comment section of this post and I will make my best effort to cover it!

  1. One more thing, I wish that I could attend the fanexpo and meet you guys, but I live in Sweden and while I have the time (currently unemployed) I can’t afford the journey. :( I hope to see you in time for the premier of Saw 12.

  2. Rodney-san, I think that you do a really good job with this site! Even though we do disagree sometimes but that’s natural when I’m the only one here on Earth that are twice as smart as Braniac. ;P

  3. Hey Rodney, as you no doubt know I tend to drop in every once in a while, but im no main stayer or big poster, but still, I have always enjoyed reading your articles and find your tastes in films (and games) to be much more in line with my own than both John and Doug.

  4. I’m assuming you have adopted the theme tune to ‘Greatest American Hero’ as your own personal life song sir.

I’ve said it before that you really hold the fort around here on the site when John and Doug are doing whatever people in LA do. I wouldn’t have the site without you.

  5. Serena! I will be stalking you accordingly. Prepare to be photographed by my wife! She proved to be a sniper and getting the best shots last year, so she’s coming along again.

@Bishop, I will make sure to ask every heavy guy with a beard there if he is you. I am sure there couldnt be that many at a sci-fi/comicbook/anime/gaming convention!

@Jim – It would have been more amazing with a real elephant, but its still fun!

@Dani/Gracie and others, thanks for the kind words.

  6. Rodney, I will be down at Fan Expo this weekend. I have long been a fan of your posts and would love to run in to you. If you see a fat hairy guy with a camera (cuz, you know, there won’t be any OTHER fat hairy guys with cameras there) would love to run in to you.

    Cheers
