It appears Gary Oldman will be matching Jim Carey character for charachter in Robert Zemeckis’ A Christmas Carol. We get the scoop from cinematical:
Back in November of last year, Erik posted that Oldman had joined the production that already had Carrey playing Ebenezer Scrooge, as well as the three ghosts who visit the old man to tell him the error of his ways. Now SciFi.com reports that Oldman is playing the rest of the production’s big characters — Tiny Tim, Bob Cratchit, and Marley. Considering the fact that Oldman played a little person in the largely ignored Tiptoes, I’m betting he can physically hit all of these performances out of the park. Why two stars are playing most of the characters, however, I have no idea. (I’m not complaining, but it is surprising.)
I think this is fantastic news. I love when just a few actors play a number of roles. Canada’s own The Kids In The Hall did this in Brain Candy and from England we have the genius troop known as The League Of Gentlemen that also excel at playing multiple characters to great effect (we are local).
I am guessing Oldman and Carey will pound out some magic and it will be cool to see the two play off of each other as different characters. Sadly this will be an animated feature, so we won’t be able to see them using their skills in the flesh. But if they use motion capture we may still be able to get a surprising amount of facial expressions from the characters.
This film is set to be unwrapped Dec 25.

while i respect both these guys and their respective accomplishments, mo-cap with make this suck.
this may be investment and ‘testing’ in future technology, but it’s still like watching zombies.
beowulf had great action (dragon on a bridge) but still creeped me out and i’m damn forgiving when it comes to bad effects.
king kong and of course smeagol/gollum were the best uses of mo-cap.
