Alicia Keys Set To Sing Quantum Of Silence Title Track?

AliciaWhile Amy Winehouse was cleaning needles, Alicia Keys was scoring deals! We hear rumblings today that Alicia Keys may have scored the coveted title track for Quantum Of Solace. We get the following news from Dr. No’s caves of Yahoo:

No official announcement has been made, but a source tells me, “I believe Alicia is the winner.” There have been a lot of rumors surrounding the highly coveted spot to belt one out for 007. A gaggle of artists reportedly submitted songs for consideration to producers of the 22nd Bond film, including Beyoncé, Leona Lewis, Duran Duran, Jack White, Duffy and, most recently, Annie Lennox.

Amy Winehouse was the first singer linked to the movie, but she apparently never finished recording her song with über-producer Mark Ronson. A rep for Keys declined to comment. A rep for the movie said there was “no info” available right now about a potential title song.

I am not a fan of Alicia Keys’ musical stylings, but she can certainly sing. I think she has the necessary chops to do a fantastic track for Quamtum Of Solace and think that she is a good follow up choice after Winezilla dropped the ball. How do you let an opportunity like this slip though your fingers? Oh yea, crack is awesome.

I doubt that we will have a chance to listen to the song before the film is released; but if it finds its way on the net – we will be sure to trow it up!

International Friends – are you pleased with the selection of Keys or would you prefer someone else?

  1. Did they change the title?

I love alicia keys, and her singung voice. I feel Beyonce would have been a great fit as well, but fear she would want flm exposure by asking for a role.

  2. Why have the warble-ing sounds from the older bond films? Let’s stick with new bond new music. The Chris Cornell tune was excellent and punchy which added to the trailer for sure. I would’ve loved to see Muse belt out a tune.

  3. A lot of people disliked Chris Cornell as the singer for the Casino Royale track, but I liked it quite a bit.

    Hmm.
Winehouse would have been great for this, but Keys is certainly worthy too. I, personally, can’t wait to hear it.

  4. My possible choices:

    -The Killers

-Paul Oekenfold/Davif Guetta/Moby Remix of the bond theme (kind of like what moby did for goldeneye or how moby’s song ‘extreme ways’ was used for the bourne series)

-Axel Rose and his new gun n roses

    -Oasis

    -Rage against the machine

I dont really have a problem with female singers, its just that I would love to have a male singing for bond in a hard hitting track as i think it would be a much better fit with this incarnation of bond that they have created…

  5. First of all, Doug isn’t funny in regards to Amy’s rehab problems because drug abuse isn’t funny.

I don’t know why it matters all that much, but I think Alicia will be a wonderful substitution. However, I would like it even more if it was at least a duet with Sting.

As far as thinking out of the box, I don’t see Gorgoroth let alone Behelmoth doing a song to a Bond film…

Black Tape For A Blue Girl or Ego Likeness.…maybe…

  6. what ever happened to the rumours that Ville Valo from HIM was doing the song?
he was mentioned straight after the first movie and i thought it was a good choice to keep the theme song heavier or more rock orientated like the cornell song.

  7. Oh man, if Dragonforce did the Bond song it would go on for ages, but I can totally see it working. I’d be on board.

Alicia Keys…eh, I’m not excited, but at least she can sing. I take comfort that if she gets the gig it won’t be worse the Madonna’s song.

  8. I would only imagine Gorgoroth or Dragonforce playing the main theme of a Bond movie. That would fuckin’ rule. It would get me all amped up and shit.

  9. I can’t say I’m disappointed that Winehouse is more than likely out. As for Alicia Keyes, she definitely could pull it off. I’d be happy with her singing the track. I’ve always loved the opening sequences of Bond films and look forward to them with every movie.

  10. I’ve always wanted Sting to have a go but his name was never on the cards so I wanted Annie Lennox as soon as i heard her name attached a few days ago. What you really need for Bond songs is a voice so awesome that you don’t notice how silly the title or the lyrics are because it sounds so great coming out of their mouth.

Alicia can sing though, i’m sure she’ll do well enough.
