Clone Wars Poster & Trailer News

We have a poster for the upcoming Clone Wars Film and news about the trailers release. Thanks to cinematical for the hookup:

Clone-Wars

The poster has been released to herald the debut of the trailer, which will air May 8th simultaneously on Cartoon Network, TNT, TBS, CNN and Boomerang. It will air at 7:58 in all U.S. time zones.

This animated feature will launch a series on the cartoon network. I think a theatrical release is a better idea than a made for TV movie that stretches over a few weeks. It’s more fun, and you don’t have infuriating commercials.

I am skeptical that I will enjoy this cartoon; so I am not too jazzed about the film or the show. I do love the Star Wars universe, but the prequels have killed all hope for further projects. I just have no love for Darth Vader outside of his suit – he sucks.

The release of this animated film will be upon us August 15th! For those of you in need of a Star Wars fix – there is one right around the corner!

  1. Although I am a Star Wars fan, but I am not really like this animation.
Those characters look like plastic to me. I prefer the movie series. Anyway, I will TRY to watch this animation…WHY? Because I am a Star Wars fan, just to give some support…

  2. Is it just me, or did this movie completely come out of nowhere. It seems like not long ago that they were announcing it. Same with Speed Racer

  3. What a terrible poster. Even though I’m a fan of the saga, I really don’t plan on seeing this. This is not Ep. 3, and I don’t get the same feeling as I did when they first released the trailers. If Ep. 3 was like The Two Towers, then Clone Wars is gonna be like Eragon. This is definitely a DVD movie and I’ll wait.

  4. I would have preferred the series be set after “The Return of the Jedi” or even during episodes 4-6, the prequel years no longer hold any mystery or interest for me sadly.

  5. Yes, I am in need of a Star Wars fix. I don’t think this is going to do it though.

When I watch the trailers for this cartoon movie it just brings back bad memories of watching the prequels. It’s just not star wars…..

Maybe the live action series will feel better.

  6. I’m looking forward to this animated Star Wars series. I also want to know what really happened between the 2nd and 3rd Star Wars..

Hopefully they will make another movie to fill the gap between 1st and 2nd movie..watching Anakin grow older wouldn’t be much pain (ouch!)..

  7. I’m the few are looking forward this animated series. I really enojoyed the Clone Wars and watch them with the kid every few months or so.

I also love cartoons, something I never grew out of, so animated Star Wars sounds good to me.

  8. Being a huge star wars fan, as most of us can claim to be, I am slightly curious as to how we haven’t started rioting over the art direction and script writing of these modern day films (term used loosely). The only reason that anyone can give is as to how they are good is “they are star wars dude!!!” Along with a shifty-eyed giggle all they have is hope that you will agree that reason alone is enough.
Example: If I said that the Godfather part 3 was crap. You would get a “ohh yeah, that was such a letdown”.
Well, here we go again. Not only is the animation style of this absolutely not in style with the star wars world, the story idea parallels the marketing genius of McDonald’s “i’m lovin’ it” campaign.

LucasArts might as well change their name to wallmart films.

  9. the cartoons had a good star wars feel to it, my only problem was that i felt i was rushed while watching them. nonetheless i’m looking forward to watching this with my son.

  10. I think I might be one of the few people actually excited about this. Just to be clear, I am not a big fan of the prequels, but man, those stories HAD so much potential.

I loved the first two CLONE WARS micro-series. Yes, they were done in a kid-friendly animation style, but IMHO they fully captured the wonder and excitement that the original trilogy did. I LOVE those DVDs.

So, yeah, REVENGE… was a let down, but I am hoping that this series is more akin the the previous. If they can recapture that, well, then SW will still be fun for me.

  11. I am a Star Wars fan, not as much as Trek, but one nonetheless. However this doesn’t look that good. I also tried watching the cartoons and had to stop; just wan’t doing it for me. Good luck though, George.

  12. This is different from the last cartoon they did. That one was pretty cool except for the Anakin side story where he gets the tattoo and helps the alien tribe. I guess George saw that someone was able to do a good job without him so he had to do his own crappy version. The cgi series does look good with the exception of the people.
Getting tired of prequels and then going back in the middle of prequels and adding other stories.
They need to start up a new story line in the distant past or after Jedi for Star Wars to live on.

  13. Clone Wars? wasn’t that out like 10 yrs ago?
Animating a section of a story from the middle of an already finished story? Bizarre.

Gimme Yoda: The Early Years, or episodes 7,8,9 but not this re-tread. Yawn.

  14. For some strange reason I just can’t get excited about this project.
The whole Clone Wars is done and I have no desire to see it again.
I loved the CLONE WARS series, but I just don’t want more of the same.

  15. I tried watching the cartoon series and couldn’t handle it for two reasons:

    1. The animation style sucks and reminds me of every other cartoon out there today for kids (though that could just be me).

    2. I’ve NEVER been able to watch cartoon series that were based on movies, because the voice actors were completely different. It’s trivial, I know, but at least The Partridge Family cartoon had the original cast. It’s just always bugged me to no end. That’s why I don’t like videogame adaptations much, because of voice actors being used instead of the original cast.

Anyway, judging from the poster the animation looks a little better (except for Yoda, Yoda still looks like shit) but I doubt I’ll be able to get past new voice actors.

  16. After seeing the last star wars and knowing how evil Anakin actually becomes (no character evolution at all – nice one george) I really dont wanna see him potrayed as a hero again
