Liv Tyler Cast As Betty Ross In The Hulk

livt.jpegNews out today regarding the upcoming Hulk movie. It looks like Liv Tyler will play Betty Ross the squeeze of Bruce Banner/Hulk. We get the news from the caves of Yahoo:

Liv Tyler will star opposite Edward Norton in “The Incredible Hulk,” signing on to play Betty Ross, the longtime love interest of Dr. Bruce Banner/the Hulk.

Ross, a classic “Hulk” character from the comic book’s beginning in 1962, is Banner’s fellow scientist and an ally in his quest to rid him of his lurking monster deep inside. The movie will unfold with Ross estranged from Banner (Norton), but with the pursuit of the Hulk heating up and Banner on the run trying to cure his condition, Ross finds herself swept back into his life.

I think this is a solid casting. Liv Tyler would look bitchin’ in a lab coat and totally can pull off the “scientist” look. I just hope the chemistry between her and Ed Norton is solid. If you are going to have romantic moments – you better be able to sell them. Nothing is worse than watching two people kiss uncomfortably like cousins on the silver screen.

After the train wreck of the previous Hulk I hope they are able to put out a solid piece of work. By the casting so far – I am optimistic. I am also glad that this movie is said to involve more action. Hulk is a path of destruction – use this fact to create movie magic.

  1. I think this will be pretty entertaining. The villain is a tough nut worthy of Hulk – who doesn’t want to see 2 giants slugging it out? Ed Norton provides acting chops and gravitas to the role. I’m really curious what Hulk’s face will look like now.

I would have to disagree with you Darnell. You would rather have a sequel for a movie that did not do very well than start over with better actors and [so far] a better plot. I think Liv is a great actor she was stunning in LOTR, I too hope she can pull off the neccesary stunts for The Incredible Hulk!

This movie will blow. They should’ve stuck with the original cast…they ruined a second chance of a good Comic film.

  4. You’re right, Doug. This news is totally bitchin’. With Ed we have the cerebral turned viceral, with Liv we have the ingenue cum lab-coat-clad geek-fantasy. If we can just get Bruce Willis to play her dad the major as the man the hulk almost smashes before saving Liv so that Ed can get his feet under the table as the man-force Bruce knows can keep his daughter safe through anything – although he hides an uncontrollable monster (every daughter-father’s fear: don’t make me spell it out).
Hulk Smash, Liv Horney, massive tender set piece, Liv stunned but appreciative, leaves comments on Darren’s blog, downloads Bruxy’s podcast, explains to Hulk in over-long exposition scene, have pale-green kid, disappoint Doug, John explains to Doug why scene was crucial, Doug pronounces idea total “cockshit”, Bruxy gives a benefaction, Darren espouses linguistic theory about Hulk’s grunts being a primitive derivation of dipthong Klingon glottal stops and credits Larissa with the insight. Doug points out that Darren is bigger than Hulk in the only way that matters. John says “Hey, we’ve got 17 more topics to cover, lets move on to something I already blogged about ad infinitum.”
Only kidding, guys. (Love you all.)

  5. I think this is a good cast for Betty Ross, as Doug said she would fit well in that roll. She looks good in a lab coat, great fit… and I thought she was good in LOTR.. but we’ll see how this turns out.. plus I think shes friggin hot

  6. I say boo. I’m not a fan of hers, and I think her Arwen was a rare weak point of the LOTR franchise. She’s gorgeous, and her dad rocks, but I hope she has a VERY limited role. Her baby-whisper voice just kills me.
