News on single Kill Bill film

killbillbox.jpgThere was news way back in March that Quentin Tarantino would be pulling together the two Kill Bill movies into one big one. After that we heard nothing. Yet here he is again talking about it.

Digital Spy has him saying…

“I want to cut the whole movie together like one big epic with an intermission in the middle like a 60s film,” explained the iconic director. “It’ll be coming out in theatres.”

“I’ve been holding off because I’ve been working on it for so long that I just wanted a year off from Kill Bill and then I’ll do the big supplementary DVD package.”

According to them he’s set to start working on it early next year for a late 2006 release. Perhaps he thinks we’re getting used to sitting through amazingly long movies? For me the cinema version doesn’t hold much excitement, I think I’d be distracted by serious numb bum syndrome. However, a DVD release would be really interesting to watch, and much more comfortable. The recut work sounds especially exciting, way more than just a sticking together of the two movies.

  1. This is good news! (at least for me) I’ve been putting off buying Kill Bill Vol 2 (I have Vol 1) because I want the whole package together! Since there had been no news for a long while I thought it was completely placed on the back burner – I’m so glad it’s not!

  2. I’m a cinema addict through and through – I watch movies, work in the movies and talk about movies. In the case of some films I can’t wait for Special Eds and usually just end up buying the barebones anyway. Kill Bill 1 & 2 was one of these cases. Oddly enough I just spent the past two afternoons watching vols 1 & 2 and was thinking the whole time, “I wonder if its ever really going to be recut into one film?”

Thanks for answering my question Richard.

  3. I’m quite looking forward to this. I’ve done the same thing as Billy Holiday and decided to wait until the super awesome edition comes out.

I’m curious to see how this will work out though. While they were part of the same story, the two movies are actually quite a bit different. The first half is mostly fast paced and action based, while the second dealt more with characters and dialogue. I could see that as being a strange turn when presented as one movie.

    Either way, I can’t wait.

  4. It’s my fault guys. I’ve been holding off on buying Kill Bill until a super deluxe edition comes out like QT keeps saying. But as we all know, as soon as I break down and buy the barebones DVDs, it’ll be released the next week. Sorry.
