Nicole Kidman and Robert Downey Jr. in Fur

Robert_Downey.jpgOk, so just about everyone around here knows I’m a Nicole Kidman fan. This lady is not only seriously beautiful but also carries some serious acting chops. Then there’s Robert Downey Jr…. a guy whose drug problems stopped him (and I’m being serious) from having probably one of the best acting careers of our generation.

Downey has been rock solid in every single project he’s been involved in and would probably have 2 or 3 Oscars to his name by now if it wasn’t for his screwed up personal life.

Now, the good folks over at Guardian Unlimited are reporting that these two are set to begin filming a project together starting next month called “Fur”. Here’s and excerpt:

A new film starring Nicole Kidman and Robert Downey Jr. about the life of photographer Diane Arbus will be shot at Brooklyn’s new Steiner Studios. The movie will be based on Patricia Bosworth’s “Diane Arbus: A Biography.” Arbus, known for her photo images of eccentric personalities from the 1950s and ’60s, committed suicide in 1971.

Sounds good to me. Here’s hoping Downey can really get back on track with his career and more importantly his life. He’s still young enough to leave a mark if he does.

  1. I am thrilled about this Fincher movie and thrilled that Downey is a part of it. He has been working steadily now for quite awhile and will have about 6 movies coming out next year. He is working non stop now. All of the directors who wanted to work with him but were unable to for insurance reasons and so on are calling him now and he is going to set the movie world on fire. I am so happy for him in his new life and happy for us the movie going audience. We are in for some compelling performances. He is a freaking genius.

  2. Simone – I’m in total agreement with you. Nicole is easily in the same league as Blanchett and Streep. They’re such awesome women actors! And I think Nicole has thrived since her parting with Cruise.

As for Downey – I’m waiting for him to get his life stable. John, I agree completely with you when it comes to his talent and potential. It’s been a frustration to watch his drug struggle. He’s always been fantastic in any role he’s done. I think with his growing years he’ll finally grow up and give the movie going world what we’ve been waiting for!

  3. I also like Nicole. With or without Tom Cruise. There are a few actresses who when you watch them in different roles, it’s still them you see, and not the character they play. I think Nicole, Cate Blanchett and Meryl Streep are all in this league.

As for Downey, I still have faith in this guy and would like to see him in character-driven roles where he shines.
