The seemingly never ending on again off again affair with Joss Whedon helming the next X-Men film just won’t seem to get settled. There was a lot of talk recently at WonderCon about Joss’ role in either of the two upcoming comic adaptation films.
I’ve mentioned before here on The Movie Blog that no matter what happens, if Joss helm either X-Men or Wonder Women, we the movie fans will win. Still, I hope he gets X-Men 3.
The good folks over at Empire give is this insight from the floor of WonderCon:
The big news was that producer Joel Silver announced that he was still pursuing Whedon for a big screen version of Wonder Woman, which will be welcome news to anyone who ever crossed their wrists and spun around fast in the playground to deflect imaginary bullets in a game of superheroes and robbers. “I’m trying to work a deal with Joss. It’s complicated, but I would love him to do it. It would be great if he could,” said Silver. According to Silver, Whedon has a new twist on the lassoed heroine, which makes him first choice for the director’s chair. And as anyone who has ever seen Buffy can tell you, Joss knows how to write and direct strong female characters that don’t have to wear fetish gear to win fans (yes, we’re looking at you, Charlie’s Angels).
The thing is, Joss Whedon isn’t only working on his next film Serenity at the moment, but he’s also writing for the Astonishing X-Men comic and announced he’ll be doing more of that.
So what do you put your money on? WIll Whedon direct the next X-Men or will it be Wonder Woman?
i would like to see Wonder Woman done with more sincerity but with fun. Catherine zeta Jones would make a perfect wonder woman.I think Lynda Carter should be consdered to play queen Hippolyta. Also will this be WW2 or present day. If present it would be a great time for Diana to suceed the throne and a new wonder woman take over. Be a good plot line from where i am . In Kentucky. I have been a devoted W.W. Fan so lets do this right boys.
I’m looking forward to Wonder Woman as I was a fan of Joss’s work on Buffy and Angel. He was considering Sarah Michelle Gellar or Charisma Carpenter as the part of wonder woman. I think Charisma is more suited for the role.Others were Sandra Bulluk or that girl off Fast to Furious.
I hope he considers Catherine Zeta-Jones (Douglas) first or Angelina. I have a lot of great ideas for the plot, since I’ve been a big fan of WW for years. I’ve watched all the episodes w/ Lynda Carter in the late 70s and now have the videos from Columbia House for my young daughter to watch.
