Owen Wilson to Produce and Star in Blood Brothers

Owen Wilson has announced he will be staring in a horror comedy he intends to produce himself. Blood Brothers.

MovieWeb shares:

Owen Wilson has signed on to star in the upcoming horror comedy Blood Brothers. Wilson will also be producing the film for Spyglass Entertainment.

The story revolves around two best friends, one a vampire and the other a mortal human. Wilson will be playing the straight man, so to speak, and he will have to deal with the blood thirst of his best buddy.

Owen has been a little hit and miss lately, but I always seem to enjoy him on screen. He has a natural talent for playing off his co-stars so that everyone is appealing.

This makes him perfect for the buddy film formula. I don’t recall him being in a horror before so this babystep of a Horror Comedy might open some doors for him or simply solidify his home in comedy movies.

Who do you think would make a good match for the Vampire? Though he works well with Jackie Chan, I just couldnt see him as a vampire playing against Wilson’s straight man. Stiller comes to mind.

What do you think?

  1. I think it is great that Owen Wilson is back on track and doing what he does best.
Owen and Vince Vaughn team up again for Wedding Crashers # 2.
David Dobkin is the man. Hope to see them back together on the big screen soon.

  2. As a fan, I’d love to see him with Luke/Vince/Ben, but, to see him with someone else, could be a good thing too. As long as the pairing is not as disastrous as that of You Me and Dupree. I still cant imagine mattillon and owen as best friends. Robert Downey Jr. will make a good pair w/Ow.

  3. I think it should be a women to play the part. But I would prefer a better movie story if you want to secure a large viewing audience. For example a women stalking Owen. Either say Kate Winslett, Lindsay Lohan, that recent bionic women or Kate Hudson… stalking Owen for purposes of wanting to be in a relationship and have a family with him and he can’t decide until the end, and then at the end, says yes. (good practice!). Cameos by Sheryl Crow and maybe papperazi a little, to provide interest, assume realty and competition for the actress stalker. Hey, he is such a popular figure, make a movie to draw on similarities into his actual life. (get a women in to team up for what must be interstingly detailed script writing) – or –

On vampire story, get Jan Michael Vincent to be the blood brother, but keep him ATTRACTIVE otherwise it will not work. You may think about including flashback photos of his current and youthful beauty in the movie. Either story should be a sucess: a shear love interest and particular crowd pleaser that will create a tremendous draw. Especially from the ladies, isn’t that his biggest audience? Love and best wishes.

  4. I agree with Darren. I think it would be a pretty good duo seeing him back together with Vince, especially with Vince as the vampire.

If they’re trying to make it more of just a dark comedy, for some reason I could see Clive Owen, or an actor of similar stature and appearance (with more of a serious/drama acting resume) playing the vampire role.

  5. ” I don’t recall him being in a horror [film] before”
The Seeler does. Anaconda the remake of The Haunting, and The Minus Man might even qualify: instead of getting eaten by a giant snake or decapitated by a vengeful ghost, he played a serial killing drifter.

As to who might play the Vampire? This is going to sound deranged, but I *would* like to see Wilson team up with his fellow Wedding Crasher Vince Vaughn again.

    Think it over.
