Paul W.S. Anderson Is Interested In Making Resident Evil 4

AndersonIt looks like Paul W.S. Anderson is pregnant with Resident Evil 4, but is waiting to see if Sony will let him have the baby. We get the scoop from MTV:

“Resident Evil: Extinction,” the third video-game to big screen adaptation in the popular series will likely not be the last, Anderson said, although talks for a fourth film are still in the very earliest stages of development. “I’m just starting to talk to Sony about it,” Anderson confessed. “I don’t even know if anything will come of it, but there’s a possibility it might happen.”

It would seem like a sure thing given the ending of “Extinction,” which saw Alice (Milla Jovovich) beside herself with rage — literally, thanks to hundreds of perfect clones – promising to travel to the Umbrella Corporation’s headquarters in Japan. But Anderson, who scripted the first three films, says a concrete story hasn’t yet been decided upon. In fact, it’s coming up with a plausible, kick-ass story that’s momentarily holding him up.

I wasn’t that thrilled with the first Resident Evil film, and haven’ t been in a rush to see the sequels. I know that some of our readers are fans of the franchise however, and I hope that this is good news for you! Sadly it really isn’t much news at all. We just discovered that Paul is interested in a film, and hopes it happens.

With luck Sony will say yay or nay shortly so we have a difinitive answer for you. In the meantime we can rest assured that Paul is thinking about ways Mila can kill zombies…… totally nude!??

  1. i think the 1st was good..the seoncd one my favourite by miles because of nicholai and carlos(HOTT!!) and the third was fair good..and credit to who thought of doing it in the desert because zombi films are all in the city…the fourth one should be in england((yayy)) and then they visit japan to kick wesker and that lots butts!!

  2. From what I once heard about the possibility of a RE4 is that it may focus on Claire’s Character, so maybe we’ll see new things in this one. Although, and I’ve stated this with Slushie-Man, Alice’s story, no matter what the film makers say, is NOT finished, and you can tell just with the ending to Extinction.

  3. I thought the first film wasn’t great
I thought the second was a piece of turd.
I avoided the third until video and found out how much I enjoyed it. I enjoyed it *because* it took a chance in straying slightly away from the video game storyline, which in most video game to film adaps, is a crutch because there isn’t much of a story to begin with*. Even though I was also slightly disappointed, it was the best of the three.

Yeah, Resident Evil 4. I’m cool with that.

*“a concrete story hasn’t yet been decided upon” Anderson says.

    hahahahahahahahahaha

  4. Paul Anderson should go to the special part of hell where Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer will reside when I find them and kill them with my bare fists.

  5. Eh, I can’t really say much for yet another live action RE movie. Most of all another one by Mr. Paul Anderson. Hell we didn’t need a 3rd one. I gave him a 2nd chance with part 2 thinking he could redeme himself, mostly because of Event Horizon. But nope, he sure couldn’t. Couldn’t even do it by the 3rd try either, he sure as hell isn’t going to do better on the 4th fucken’ time.

But the RE movie I do really want to see is that new all CGI one in the works. This just might be the RE movie we RE fans have all been waiting for.

  6. Well i for one, am a huge fan of the games and can’t believe they fucked up the movies so badly. Having said that, i was shocked as hell to find there were one or two things in the third film that i actually enjoyed.

Whatever this Resi 4 is, i assume its not going to be a film translation of the actual fourth game (which is far too awesome to be turned into one anyway).

  7. Still, I enjoy the series enough that I wouldn’t mind seeing another one. I also wouldn’t mind if there isn’t another one. I don’t care either way, but if one is made, I’ll be there opening weekend to see it.

  8. The first movie was fun, the second is my favorite in the series, and the third, while good, didn’t feel like Resident Evil. It felt like a Romero zombie movie, with the cast of Resident Evil, and I HATED HATED HATED the Tyrant in it. In my review for RE3, I think I ranted on for a good two or three paragraphs about how shitty the Tyrant was done and it’s James Bond villain-like rambling and lecturing.
