The latest entry in the wall-crawler’s cinematic journey, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, reportedly left a clever Daredevil Easter egg on the cutting room floor. While fans have been eager to see more connections between Peter Parker and the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen following their interaction in Spider-Man: No Way Home, this specific detail would have provided a subtle nod to their shared history.
Production designer Will Dixon recently shared the revelation on social media, explaining the process of creating set dressing for the film. Dixon noted that because it is never certain if a prop like a wallet will receive a close-up shot, the production team must create detailed items that feel authentic to the character. Among the items designed for Peter Parker’s wallet was a business card for the law firm Nelson Murdock and Page.
Dixon explained that he imagined Matt Murdock would have provided the card to Peter during the events of No Way Home. It stands to reason that Peter would have kept the contact information handy, even after the world-altering events that followed. The inclusion of the card would have served as a grounded reminder of the legal assistance Peter received when his identity was first exposed and he faced intense public scrutiny.
More Details Left Out of the Final Cut
The business card was not the only item designed for the prop. Dixon also revealed that other cards were created for the wallet, including references to Blumenthal Bagels and The Coffee Bean. The latter serves as a nostalgic callback to classic Spider-Man comics from the 1960s and 1970s, where the location functioned as a primary hangout spot for the characters. These small touches highlight the effort put into building a lived-in world for Peter Parker, even if some details did not make it into the final theatrical version.
This omitted Easter egg follows other reports regarding potential Daredevil-related content that did not make the final cut of the movie. Rosario Dawson, known for her role as Claire Temple in the Marvel Netflix series, previously confirmed that her scenes were removed from the film. These combined omissions have led to significant fan speculation regarding what other connections to the broader street-level corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe might have been planned.
While the absence of these specific references might disappoint those hoping for a more direct crossover, the existence of these props confirms that the creative team was actively looking for ways to weave the two worlds together. For now, fans will have to wait and see if these characters cross paths again in future installments of the franchise.
