Netflix Brings Little House on the Prairie to Chicago for July 4th

Netflix is bringing the frontier to downtown Chicago this Independence Day weekend.

To celebrate the upcoming premiere of Little House on the Prairie, the streaming giant will host The Prairie Pause, a free two day immersive experience on the Magnificent Mile that transports visitors back to the 1870s. The activation arrives just days before the series debuts on Netflix on July 9.

Step Into the American Frontier

Located at Pioneer Court, at the intersection of Michigan Avenue and the Chicago River, The Prairie Pause transforms one of Chicago’s busiest locations into a peaceful pioneer retreat.

Guests will be welcomed by an authentic covered wagon, rustic timber archways, and handcrafted picnic spaces inspired by the world of Little House on the Prairie.

The experience encourages visitors to slow down and embrace frontier living, even if only for an afternoon.

Families and holiday travelers can relax on custom picnic blankets beneath shaded seating areas while enjoying fresh baguettes and locally sourced jams from Chicago artisans. Interactive pioneer craft stations will also give guests an opportunity to create their own keepsakes while escaping the summer heat.

Netflix describes the activation as a blend of historical authenticity and modern “cottagecore” aesthetics, creating a social media friendly experience that celebrates one of America’s most beloved literary properties.
