The Descendants: Wicked Wonderland franchise is expanding once again. Disney has officially debuted the trailer for the latest installment, offering fans a first look at the new adventure that follows the events of the previous film. The project is set to premiere on July 16 on Disney Channel, followed by a release on Disney+ the next day.
A New Threat in Wonderland
The story picks up with Red and Chloe, who believe things are finally perfect after the Queen of Hearts is redeemed and Cinderella is safe. However, their interference with the past has inadvertently created a new villain: Maddox Hatter. When Maddox captures the Queen of Hearts, the protagonists must team up with a new group of characters, including Red’s sister Pink, Luis Madrigal, Hazel Hook, and Max Hatter, to save Wonderland.
The film features a returning cast including Kylie Cantrall, Malia Baker, Rita Ora, and Brandy. Joining the ensemble for this chapter are Liamani Segura, Brendon Tremblay, and Awkwafina, who voices Chessy the Cat. The project is directed by Kimmy Gatewood, with a script penned by Tamara Chestna alongside Dan Frey and Ru Sommer.
Music and Franchise Legacy
In addition to the trailer, Disney released the new single Mad-Wicked Wonderland, continuing the franchise tradition of memorable villain anthems. The film promises more original music than previous entries, with choreography by Emmy Award-winning choreographer Emilio Dosal. The full soundtrack is scheduled for release on July 17 via Walt Disney Records.
The Descendants franchise has remained a powerhouse for youth entertainment since its 2015 debut, amassing nearly 1 billion hours of viewing across linear and streaming platforms. With the success of 2024’s Descendants: The Rise of Red, which became the most-watched original movie among Kids and Girls 6–11 on Disney+, the anticipation for this new chapter remains high. Fans can watch the official trailer on the official YouTube channel.
