A New Chapter for the Pudgy Penguins Universe
The Pudgy Penguins universe is expanding beyond social media and digital gaming with the launch of its first-ever comic book trilogy. Titled Adventures of Pax Pengu and Polly, the series is set to debut at San Diego Comic-Con 2026. The project serves as the official origin story for the brand’s central characters, Pax Pengu and Polly, while establishing a narrative foundation for future storytelling.
Developing the Official Origin Story
For nearly a year, writer Vivian Lin and illustrator Afiq Salam worked to develop the franchise’s first long-form narrative. The trilogy follows Pax as he searches for his missing family, a journey that leads him to Polly and the location known as The Berg. Throughout the three volumes, the characters navigate conflicts between penguins and bears while uncovering secrets about their world.
According to Peter Lobanov, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Pudgy Penguins, the goal was to provide fans with a deeper look at the characters they have followed for years. The creative team focused on connecting existing community lore into an official canon that supports long-term growth for the franchise.
Hand-Crafted Storytelling
The production of the comic emphasized traditional creative methods, with every page illustrated by hand. The team confirmed that no AI-generated artwork was used in the creation of the trilogy. Afiq Salam utilized a manga-inspired style intended to provide cinematic pacing and emotional depth to the characters’ journey across Antarctica.
