A significant new documentary, John Shearer: American Moments, is set to make its world premiere in a unique setting. Working as a staff photographer for Look and Life magazines, Shearer documented major historical milestones, including the funerals of President John F. Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Attica uprising, and the career of Muhammad Ali. His work remains a vital record of the social and political unrest that defined the 1960s and 1970s.
The premiere event offers more than just a screening. It will be curated by Nate Smith, the Artistic Director of the Newport Jazz Festival, and will feature a live musical performance by the Alison Shearer Quartet.
