The official trailer for RAGEBAIT has arrived, offering a first look at the upcoming found footage horror comedy anthology. The film is set to stream exclusively on Screambox starting August 4. Previously titled Clickbait, the project explores the dark side of internet fame through a series of unsettling stories.
The story follows a socially parasitic live streamer on Halloween night who becomes the target of a malevolent entity. After a mysterious viewer curses his broadcast, he is forced to watch a collection of disturbing videos featuring content creators who have disappeared under mysterious circumstances. As the night progresses, the line between entertainment and reality begins to blur, trapping the streamer in a dangerous chain of events.
From Agency Life to Horror Anthology
The film serves as the first feature from Gallows Humor Pictures. According to co-director and producer Joe Martinez-Weinberger, the project was born out of the 2023 industry strikes. After being laid off, Martinez-Weinberger and co-director David James Clark decided to stop waiting for permission to create and instead financed the film themselves using their own savings.
Martinez-Weinberger noted that the film was created for reasons of both fun and rage, serving as a cathartic experience for anyone frustrated by the endless stream of phony content creators online. He expressed hope that the film will inspire other aspiring filmmakers to take control of their own creative projects rather than waiting for external opportunities.
Cast and Production Details
The film stars Tyler Arceneaux as Ralph, Jack Arden Garrett as Ted, and Ray Beer as Kaleb Klick. In addition to directing, Joe Martinez-Weinberger and David James Clark produced the feature, with Dean Smith and Taylor Weiss also serving as directors. The screenplay features contributions from Joe Martinez-Weinberger, David James Clark, Jude Price, and Grant Chauncey. The film has a runtime of 93 minutes and is not rated.
