Jimmy Tatro is reportedly in talks to join the DC Studios upcoming Superman spinoff series. The project, which currently carries the working title DC Crime, is set to center on Daily Planet photographer Jimmy Olsen and the infamous primate supervillain Gorilla Grodd.
Skyler Gisondo is already attached to reprise his role as Jimmy Olsen. According to reports, Tatro is being eyed to portray the villainous Gorilla Grodd. The series is being developed as a true-crime docuseries hosted by Olsen, with the first season focusing on the story of Grodd.
This project reunites Tatro with American Vandal creators Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda, who are attached to write, executive produce, and showrun the series. Tatro previously starred in the first season of the Netflix series American Vandal.
A Unique DCU Premise
DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn recently clarified the premise of the show on social media, describing it as both a Jimmy Olsen and a Gorilla Grodd project. Gunn noted that the concept was part of his initial pitch for the DCU and that production is expected to begin soon.
While the series has not yet received an official greenlight, it remains one of the more unique entries in the expanding DC slate. The project stands apart from the main film continuity, though it shares the same creative universe as the upcoming Man of Tomorrow, which is currently in production and scheduled for a July 9, 2027 release.
The involvement of Tatro suggests the studio is looking to lean into the specific tone established by Perrault and Yacenda. Given the success of their previous collaborations, fans can likely expect a blend of genre storytelling and the mockumentary-style humor that defined their earlier work.
