The global press tour for Disney’s upcoming live-action Moana has officially reached the United Kingdom. Stars Dwayne Johnson and Catherine Lagaʻaia, along with director Thomas Kail, gathered in London to celebrate the highly anticipated reimagining of the animated classic.

Following previous stops in Hawaiʻi, China, and Australia, the London event transformed Potters Fields Park into a Pacific-inspired celebration. The immersive experience featured a 20-foot-tall replica of Maui’s fishhook and a recreation of Moana’s canoe. The festivities included various dance and vocal performances, culminating in a surprise appearance by Johnson, who joined students from the British Theatre Academy on stage for a rendition of the song You’re Welcome.
The event also provided a special moment for students from St. Gregory’s School in Colchester. The group, which previously went viral on TikTok after reaching out to Johnson, was invited to the event as a surprise, where they met the actor in person.
Bringing the World of Motunui to Life
This live-action adaptation follows Moana as she voyages beyond the reef of Motunui alongside the demigod Maui to restore prosperity to her people. The production features a new original song titled Along The Way, written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and performed by Lagaʻaia, Johnson, and Auliʻi Cravalho. The film is set to arrive in theaters on July 10, 2026.
The global tour highlights the studio’s commitment to building anticipation for this reimagining. By hosting immersive events that bridge the gap between the film’s Pacific roots and international audiences, the team is clearly aiming to capture the same magic that made the original animated features a success.
