The global promotional campaign for Disney’s upcoming live-action Moana is moving forward as the cast and filmmakers visit key international and domestic markets. Recent stops in Rio de Janeiro and Miami have highlighted the scale of the production ahead of its theatrical debut on July 10, 2026.
Dwayne Johnson, who reprises his role as the demigod Maui and serves as a producer on the film, greeted fans during an event at Ilha Fiscal in Brazil. Meanwhile, producer and songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda joined breakout star Catherine Lagaʻaia in Miami for a series of interviews and an oceanfront photo call.
Building Momentum for the Live-Action Reimagining
The press tour has already visited several major cities, including stops in Hawaiʻi, Shanghai, Sydney, and London. These events serve to build anticipation for the new take on the story, which follows Moana as she voyages beyond the reef of Motunui to restore prosperity to her people.
Beyond his work on the film’s production, Miranda has contributed new music to the project. This includes the original song Along The Way, which is performed by Lagaʻaia, Johnson, and Auliʻi Cravalho. Cravalho, who voiced the character in the original animated features, also serves as an executive producer on this new iteration.
A Major Production Effort
Directed by Thomas Kail, the film features a creative team that includes producers Beau Flynn, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia. The production also benefits from the musical contributions of Opetaia Foaʻi and Mark Mancina, with Mancina also composing the original score.
As the release date approaches, the studio continues to showcase the visual and musical scope of the project. Fans can find more information and updates on the official movie website.
