Shudder has officially acquired the rights to the upcoming horror film Nightborn, which stars Rupert Grint. The streaming platform confirmed that the project will be available for subscribers to watch on July 31, 2026.
Directed by Hanna Bergholm, the film serves as the second entry in the filmmaker’s horror series, following her 2022 debut feature, Hatching. The story centers on a couple, Saga and her British husband Jon, who relocate to a remote house in the forest with hopes of starting a family. Tensions rise after their baby is born, as Saga becomes convinced that something is deeply wrong with her newborn, leading to a breakdown in her marriage.
The film also features performances from Seidi Haarla, Pamela Tola, Pirkko Saisio, Rebecca Lacey, and John Thomson. It is produced by Daniel Kuitunen, with Nick Shumaker and David Levine serving as executive producers.
Why This Matters for Genre Fans
Bergholm gained significant attention from genre enthusiasts with her previous work, making this follow-up a notable addition to the Shudder library. For Grint, the role continues his transition into darker, more mature genre projects following his work on the series Servant. The director noted that the film is specifically crafted for those who enjoy psychological horror and themes surrounding the complexities of parenthood.
