Amon is an original character created specifically for the television series and does not appear in the source material from the video games. According to reports, the character serves as one of the leaders of the Seraphites, the religious cult that became a major presence during the second season. As the narrative shifts to explore Abby Anderson’s journey through Seattle, the internal dynamics of the group will take center stage.
Showrunner Craig Mazin continues to expand the scope of the series beyond the events depicted in the games. This development adds a new layer to the ongoing conflict between the Seraphites and the Washington Liberation Front, which is led by Isaac, played by Jeffrey Wright.
Production Status and Future Outlook
The casting news arrives as the production for the third season undergoes a scheduled hiatus. Filming in Vancouver has paused for approximately one month due to the city hosting events for the FIFA World Cup. Production is expected to resume later this year and continue through the end of 2026. While HBO has not yet confirmed an official release date, network head Casey Bloys has indicated that the series is currently eyeing a 2027 premiere.
