Hit Man TV Series in Development at Netflix

Netflix is developing a Hit Man TV series, reimagining the 2024 feature film for the small screen. The original movie starred Glen Powell as an unassuming college professor who works as a police contractor, utilizing elaborate disguises to pose as a fake hitman to catch suspects.

The film, which was directed by Richard Linklater, earned positive reviews following its release on the streaming platform. The potential series is expected to lean into the premise of the protagonist adopting various personas, drawing comparisons to the character-driven nature of shows like Alias.

Production and Creative Team

Both Powell and Linklater are set to executive produce the series through AGC Television and Powell’s BarnStorm Productions label. Stephen Falk, known for creating You’re the Worst, is attached to write the series and will also serve as an executive producer alongside Dan Cohen, Stuart Ford, Miguel A. Palos Jr, and Lourdes Diaz.

This project continues a trend for the streamer, which has previously adapted other film properties into television series. While the film version of Hit Man showcased a specific narrative arc, the episodic format offers a new opportunity to explore the protagonist’s undercover work in greater detail. Fans of the original film will likely be interested to see how the series expands on the unique blend of comedy and crime established in the 2024 production.
