A24 and Peacock released the first official stills from the upcoming Crystal Lake TV series. The pictures show dark camp scenes, a masked figure, and a mother who looks ready to strike. Fans of the Friday the 13th series can see why the images feel like a teaser trailer. The visual style hints at a mix of classic slasher horror and fresh storytelling.
In October 2022 the project was announced. Original Friday the 13th screenwriter Victor Miller joined forces with his lawyer Marc Toberoff, rights holder Rob Barsamian, A24, Peacock, and showrunner Bryan Fuller. Fuller had planned two musical options: a classic score by Harry Manfredini and a modern version. In April 2024 Fuller was removed from the project. The show found new direction in August 2024 when Brad Caleb Kane took over as showrunner.

Kane’s past work includes It: Welcome to Derry, Fringe, Black Sails, Lodge 49, Moonhaven, Warrior, and Tokyo Vice.
Linda Cardellini plays Pamela Voorhees, the vengeful mother. Nick Cordileone appears as Crazy Ralph. William Catlett takes the role of Levon Brooks, likely the chief of police. Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins, and Gwendolyn Sundstrom join as supporting characters. Legacy characters such as Dorf return, linking the new series to the original Friday the 13th film.
Legacy and New Faces
Actors Nancy Nagrant, Victoria Russell, Natalie Shaw, Austin Colby, Joy Suprano, Danielle Kotch, and Phoenix Parnevik add depth to the ensemble. Callum Vinson portrays a young Jason Voorhees, while Zachary Branch may appear as an adult Jason in a later episode.
Production began in New Jersey last June and wrapped in October. The crew used the secret codename Mama’s Boy. Summer camp scenes were shot in West Milford, lake scenes in Ringwood, and downtown scenes in Blairstown. Some footage was also captured in South Orange Village.
