Chase Infiniti’s Agnes Is Set to Redefine The Testaments

Bruce Miller told Deadline that the moment Chase Infiniti walked in, he saw only Agnes. The creator of The Testaments felt an instant connection. He explained that the casting team recognized a breakout star the instant she arrived.

Infiniti had just finished filming One Battle After Another, a project that earned her global attention and an Academy Awards appearance. A few weeks later she stepped onto the purple carpet at Series Mania in Lille for the world premiere of The Testaments. The buzz grew quickly, and Miller noted that the team waited for the world to notice her performance.

Executive Producers Agree

Warren Littlefield, the series executive producer, said that Elisabeth Moss also felt the same spark. Moss, who stars in The Handmaid’s Tale and serves as an executive producer on The Testaments, called Infiniti “spectacular” and agreed that she was the perfect Agnes.

The Story Behind Agnes

The Testaments follows the daughters of Gilead’s commanders as they attend an elite school run by Aunt Lydia. Infiniti plays Agnes opposite Lucy Halliday, who portrays Daisy, a Pearl allowed into the Aunts’ domain. The series shifts focus from June’s story to a new generation of young women.

Season One: An Awakening

Littlefield describes Season One as an awakening. The girls know only the world Gilead created, and they have not yet seen its full horror. Readers of Margaret Atwood’s The Testaments will discover new layers as Agnes learns about her society alongside the audience.

Looking Ahead to Multiple Seasons

Miller dreams of a long run for the show. He imagines dozens of episodes that could span many seasons. While The Handmaid’s Tale reached 66 episodes, The Testaments may aim for 30 to 50 episodes to tell a complete story.

A Fresh Visual Palette

The iconic red cloaks are gone. The Testaments uses a rich color code: older girls wear purple, while Pearls dress in white. This visual shift signals a new tone and a fresh experience for viewers who may not have followed the original series.

Hopeful Themes in a Dark World

Both Miller and Littlefield say the series offers hope. They believe the young women’s rebellion and optimism reflect real‑world struggles. Margaret Atwood wrote The Testaments to show a possible future and to give readers a sense of path forward. The show aims to illuminate that hope through its characters.

Fans of The Handmaid’s Tale and The Testaments will find a compelling new narrative that stands on its own while honoring its roots.
