A24 Plans Fresh Texas Chainsaw Massacre Series and Film to Thrill Horror Fans

A24 has secured the rights to bring back the legendary horror franchise. The studio will launch a television series first, followed by a feature film. This move promises fresh storytelling while honoring the original 1974 classic.

Series Leads the Way

Director JT Mollner will helm the TV series. He earned praise for his work on Strange Darling. Glen Powell joins the project as a producer, but he will not appear on screen. The series aims to explore the dark world of Leatherface in a long‑form format.

Film Development Moves Forward

A24 also confirmed that a film is in early development. The same producing team that backs the series will support the movie. Mollner will not direct the film, allowing a new filmmaker to take the helm.

Who Is Behind the Reboot?

Creative Team

Executive producers include Roy Lee of Spooky Picture and Steven Schneider. Stuart Manashil, Ben Ross of Image Nation, and Kim Henkel, co‑creator of the original, also serve as executive producers. Ian Henkel and Pat Cassidy add their expertise as producers.

Production Partners

Verve, the media rights representative, guided the deal. The company worked with Exurbia Films to protect the franchise legacy. Roy Lee and Glen Powell are represented by CAA. Mollner works with UTA, World Builder Entertainment and several other agencies.

What Fans Can Expect

JT Mollner told reporters that he respects the original film. He said the 1974 movie remains a perfect example of horror. He believes a series will let the creators dive deeper into the story and folklore. Fans can look forward to new characters, expanded lore, and the signature tension that defined the first film.

Overall, A24’s plan blends reverence for the classic with modern storytelling. The partnership of seasoned producers and fresh talent sets the stage for a compelling reboot. Horror lovers should stay tuned for casting news, release dates, and behind‑the‑scenes updates.
