Looney Tunes Revival: Tubi Hosts 800 Classic Shorts
Tubi has revived the Looney Tunes franchise by hosting around 800 classic shorts, following HBO’s decision to dump the catalogue. This news is a treat for Looney Tunes aficionados, who can now stream the majority of the classic shorts on the free streamer. However, fans should be aware that the collection is not complete, with around 200 shorts missing from the original catalogue.
What’s Missing?
The missing Looney Tunes shorts that are primarily the problematic ones, including those featuring racist stereotypes are gone. These shorts, such as the Censored Eleven, have been pulled due to their depictions of ethnicities. The most notable example is Goldilocks and the Jivin’ Bears, which is not available on Tubi.
Tubi’s Looney Tunes Categorization: A Nightmare
Tubi’s categorization of Looney Tunes shorts is also a major issue. Unlike HBO, Tubi has lumped the shorts into one season, making it difficult for fans to view individual shorts. The search function is also non-existent, making it hard to find specific shorts. Additionally, the ad breaks can be frustrating for viewers.
A New Era for Looney Tunes
Despite these issues, the revival of Looney Tunes on Tubi is a significant development for the franchise. The streamer hosts the bulk of the Looney Tunes library, featuring shorts from 1931’s Smile, Darn Ya, Smile! to 2004’s Attack of the Drones. In related news, the once-shelved Coyote vs. Acme will get a theatrical release on August 28th, 2026.
