Michael Bay in final negotiations for Transformers 4

As an absolute surprise to practically nobody word on the net now is that Michael Bay is in the final stages of signing on to direct a 4th entry in the Transformers franchise.

NY Mag has now confirmed that Bay is in final negotiations to direct “Transformers 4.” Apparently Paramount Pictures was able to convince him to return by promising to fund and distribute “Pain and Gain,” which costs around $20 million and has Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg attached to star.

“Transformers 4” details are being kept a secret, but word is that it will not be a prequel. The plan is to go in front of cameras by winter of 2012.

This was outright stated by the president of Hasbro so I’m not very surprised that he may return for another entry and may have been posturing during the negotiations. I’d hoped that we might get the opportunity for another director to have a chance at directing the next one but there’s always a Transformers 5. Now what about Shia?
