Last time I heard anything about the Last Stand there were discussions with David Yates to direct multiple movies to help tell Stephen King’s story, but those plans have apparently been scrapped and instead replaced with Ben Affleck. Seriously.

Warner Bros has chosen Ben Affleck to adapt and direct The Stand, Stephen King’s apocalyptic mammoth book. Affleck has become a cornerstone director for the studio, but this would be his greatest challenge yet. Even King has been reticent about the idea of making a feature of his book, which previously was turned into a miniseries.
I guess he has grit but working on adapting Stephen King is a bit unexpected of the burgeoning director. Can he make the post apocolyptic movie we’d want to see with this movie? I don’t know for sure but my gut tells me that he can.
Funny enough I just looked at Stephen King’s website last night and there’s news posted just this week that The Dark Tower series has been rewritten with a smaller budget of 40-50 Million in mind and HBO has already been slated to be where the mini-series will premiere. Man, news changes VERY quickly in Hollywood doesn’t it?!
Can’t wait to see what the series will look like on HBO. At least it won’t be watered down like it would have been on ABC or one of the other TV networks.
Funny, I expected just about everyone to completely reject this idea. Seems to be getting somewhat positive attention. More importantly, how will all that fit into one feature film?
Ben Affleck directing anything is a good idea. Not the best actor but I would say of the best directors around at the moment.
Part of me wishes he would have taken The Man of Steel job.
we have to becareful with the limit, watching The Town was an excellent movie, but I’m not sure if he can continue, we’ll see but again, with Stephen King movie? don’t know!
I missed the other topic about Hugh Jackman wanted to BOND now, not a good idea!
