Michelle Rodriguez returns for Resident Evil 5

It seems that director extrodinaire Paul W.S. Anderson is loading up on previously deceased stars of his Resident Evil film franchise as today we learn that Odehd Fehr, Johann Urb, and Michelle Rodriguez have also joined the cast of the film.

Source: Deadline

Michelle Rodriguez, Johann Urb, Boris Kojoe, Shawn Roberts, Sienna Guillory, Oded Fehr and Kevin Durand will star in the film. Urb, who was a regular on ABC’s Eastwick and starred in 2012. Here, he plays the leader of the Resistance, who teams with Jovovich’s Alice character as she battles the Umbrella Corporation and the swarm of undead.

I get the impression that some sort of unprecedented culmination will occur in this film. This movie has slowly gained my interest thanks to Jovovich and her infectious twittering, and the addition of former cast members is a welcome addition as far as I’m concerned.

  1. Now that Alice has no powers, it will be interesting to see what the next move will be. I have mixed feelings on this, I mean I would love to see Alice having to reopen old wounds by killing people she fought side by side with and failed to save during earlier. But I do kind of like how the only hero who really made it through each movie was Alice, like she really was the fittest.

I’m also thinking it would kind of suck to bring them back because with Fehr and Rodriguez while their body language could convey a lot it’s always the inflection they add into their roles with their words that makes them such great additions. Now if you are going to have Mutant talking Zombies kind of like the Umbrella big wig from the last movie they may get my 8.50 again, but it has to actually advance the story somehome.

  2. I’m laying out cash that they’ll be returning as clones of the original characters or even Umbrella enhanced copies created to fight off Alice and her allies.

Why bother bringing the original actors back for simple flashback scenes? It doesn’t make sense to me!

Hell….whatever we get I’m in until the final installment!!!

    1. “Why bother bringing the original actors back for simple flashback scenes?”

Are they going to replace them with someone else for the flashback?….

But, no, seriously, anything is possible in this franchise. When it comes out, I’ll go see it.

      1. Why bring the original actors back to film new flashback scenes when all they need to do is use edited scenes from the previous installments.

The only reason for the return I can imagine (other than filming some un-needed flashbacks!!) is to reprise their roles as a cloned team of Umbrella mutants. Maybe Jill Valentine’s little masked assult squad at the end of the last movie is that very team.

However knowing how these movies have worked out in the past, I doubt the plot will be anywhere near as good as that sounds!!

  3. You know, it’s very funny that most comments related to these ‘old cast’ in the new film are people thinking that they will be major players in the film. Haven’t any of you ever heard of a flash back? Who’s to say this is all they’re there for? I”m not saying it is, but lets not get ahead of ourselves…

    1. Im in agreement with tim. although id like to see all of these actors reprise their rolls, im thinking it might be in some sort of flashbacks that werent in previous films. i kind of hope thats the case anyway unless they have a really good explanation. i love the games and the movies. i had a hard time accepting them killing carlos (oded fehrp the way they did. but it is done now and i believe that should remain. imo
