Steve Carell In Talks To Become Magician

This is Steve Carell’s last season on the ever popular TV show, The Office. With more time free for his family and to make make more feature films, this news comes as no surprise. Apparently, Carell is in talks to play a magician in a new movie.

CinemaBlend reports:

Variety reports that Carell is in negotiations to star in Burt Wonderstone, a comedy about magicians in Las Vegas. After a risky illusion kills his partner, Burt Wonderstone, played by Carell, must reexamine his life and “rediscover his love of magic.” The most recent draft of the script was written by John Francis Daley (best known for his acting role on Freaks and Geeks) and Jonathan Goldstein.

I love Carell. I’m definitely going to miss him on The Office. But with him leaving, we get to see him on more films – which is awesome. Personally, is last effort, Dinner For Schmucks, wasn’t that good. Hopefully he gets back on track. Carell would fit this role nicely; and the premise sounds interesting.

What do you guys think? Carell as a magician? What’s your favorite Carell film so far?

  1. his best work will always be in “the office”. I wish he was content with staying. I understand his reasons for leaving. But I’ve seen all his movies and I’ve enjoyed none of them more than the office.
