Mark Millar Confirms Kick-Ass 2

Kick-Ass didn’t make that much money on the box office. Last time I checked, it had grossed about $100 million. It’s creator, Mark Millar, has announced that since the movie will make lots of money on it’s dvd/blu-ray release, that the studio has given the sequel a a go.

CinemaBlend reports:

But here’s the good news for Kick-Ass fans: Millar says Kick-Ass 2 is happening. After it makes all that crazy DVD money he says, “So It should be okay. So the sequel’s greenlit, we can go ahead and do the follow up now, you know. The first made so much compared to what it cost it would be crazy not to.”

I totally enjoyed the first one. It was funny, entertaining, didn’t take itself seriously, and the action rocked. Even my wife, fell in love with Hit Girl. So if Millar is right about this, I welcome a sequel. The question is, who would direct it? Kick-Ass director, Matthew Vaughn, has moved on to make X-Men: First Class. So would Millar and company get someone else? Or cross their fingers and wait to see if Vaughn would do it?
Regardless, I would definitely watch Hit Girl do her thing in the sequel.

UPDATE: IMDB actually has this: Kick-Ass 2 – Balls To The Wall (2012)

You want Kick-Ass 2? Do you believe Millar at all? If Vaughn doesn’t come back to direct, who would you like to take helm?

  1. I saw it in the cinema and I thought it was great! I’m gonna buy it on DVD! I look forward to the sequel even though it will be hard to make a worthy sequel!

  2. I love Kick-Ass. It was a great family movie and my friends enjoyed it, too. Just sucks how it didn’t make much money when it was indeed a great movie. Funny, action-packed – that’s how Kick-Ass is.

    Kick-Ass 2 should be 10x better, though. :-)

  3. I feel that Millar needs to hurry up and finish Nemesis then work on Kick Ass 2: Ass Kicking Kick Ass Action gets Kicked as a comic first then do the movie. Or maybe do Wanted 2: This has no relation to the comic except the first syllable in the main characters middle name. Just my thoughts that’s all, I love his work I wouldn’t even mind seeing an animated movie of Old Man Logan that he did.

  4. If the movie does not get made, I could still see the comic. And I imagine that they would at least need that to get the skeleton for the movie. Either way, I’d love to see a sequel. I wonder what ever happened to that contest they were running. The one where you get a character put in the sequel as a cameo.
