Actor/Director George Clooney is planning to start shooting his adaptation of 2008’s off-broadway, Farragut North, this February. Apparently, actor Chris Pine may join (as the lead) the film; one that already includes an all-star cast.
George Clooney has set his sights on Farragut North as his next directorial feature. Based on off-Broadway play of the same name, the political drama is about Stephen Meyers, an idealistic communications director who works for an inspiring though unorthodox, presidential candidate. The campaign is undone by ruthless, political masterminds who employ every dirty trick to win. Vulture reports that Clooney is planning to shoot the film in February and has cast Philip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, and has offered the role of Meyers to Chris Pine. Leonardo DiCaprio was attached to play the role way back in 2007, but he has apparently backed out. Pine received critical acclaim when he played the role in L.A.’s stage production.
This project seems really interesting. It includes for now, a really great cast. Chris Pine taking on the lead role in this, might elevate his acting chops to a new level. It’s said that Philip Seymour Hoffman will play Myers’ boss, and Paul Giamatti will play the role of a rival candidate’s campaign manager. It’s also rumored that Clooney himself could play the politician Myers works for, in a short appearance (this character is never seen in the original play). Pine should join this now! It’s a great career move. Do it!

I saw the stage production in LA. Pine really did a terrific job in the show. Really proves he’s an actor.
