January Jones is Emma Frost in X-Men First Class

Seems the casting news just will not stop for X-Men: First Class. And now it seems talks with Alice Eve didn’t solidify and the role of the White Queen Emma Frost will now go to Mad Men star January Jones!

Deadline says:

20th Century Fox has rounded out the cast of X-Men: First Class, and the big surprise is that Mad Men star January Jones has been signed to play the role of Emma Frost, the gorgeous mutant with telepathic powers.

Now I just LOVE January Jones on Mad Men. She has such grace and charm. But when we heard Alice Eve was strutting her perfect 10 into the precariously dressed White Queen Emma Frost, it was a done deal in everyone’s mind.

Jones might bring an air of class to the character, but she lacks the va-va-voom anticipated with Eve.

This casting doesn’t sit right with me. I hope the film proves me wrong.

Its also being reported that Zoe Kravitz (Daughter of Lenny Kravitz) will play Angel.

Clearly not the Angel we have heard of before. No word on whether Miss Kravitz will have wings.

For those keeping track, this is the current lineup headed into filming next week:

Zoe Kravitz – Angel
Jason Flemyng will play Azazel
Bill Milner – young version of Magneto
Michael Fassbender – Magneto
Morgan Lily – Young Mystique
James McAvoy – Xavier
Nicholas Hoult – Beast
Jennifer Lawrence – Mystique
Caleb Landry Jones – Banshee
Lucas Till – Havoc
Edi Gathegi – Darwin

Kevin Bacon is playing the villain
(speculation says Hellfire Club Black King Sebastian Shaw)
Rose Byrne – Moira MacTaggert
Oliver Platt – The Man in Black.

I am very curious to see how they go with this. Vaughn said that we would compare this to JJ Abrams Star Trek as it was a reboot of sorts. I am starting to think its that he is creating his own start to the existing franchise and rebooting against the comics world, setting the past for the films we are already familiar with.

  1. Is it me or half of the casts for the movie makes no sense? Some are too old and some are too young for the roles. I just hope it’s a good movie.

  2. This film is starting to become a bloated and rushed mess (ala X3). The only thing keeping me interested is Vaughn directing. Vaughn aslo retracted what he said about it being a reboot, and it’ll be a prequel. I think what he meant was that it would bring the franchise back, just as Abrams did with ‘Star Trek’. But not rebooting the series.
