Update: New Hulk Candidates…

So who’s gonna Hulk-out? Edward Norton is officially out of playing Hulk in the future superhero gathering, The Avengers. So who might replace him? Might we get an announcement during Comic-Con? Check out the candidates…

LATimes reports:

The two-time Oscar nominee portrayed Bruce Banner, the transmogrifying central character in “The Incredible Hulk,” Marvel Studio’s other 2008 release, and he was expected to reprise the role in “The Avengers” until the sour split. Marvel insiders say a “name” replacement will be announced at Comic-Con or sooner but they wouldn’t speak to rumor roulette that has mentioned Joaquin Phoenix, Adrien Brody, Nathan Fillion and David Tennant as the man who has been (or should be) picked to lead the new green movement.

I personally would’ve like for Norton to come back for this film. But since that’s not gonna happen, I don’t mind the names being tossed around. My picks would be: Joaquin Phoenix or Adrien Brody. Both are accomplished, great actors. I have no doubt they would rock as the Bruce Banner/Hulk.

Who do you like from this rumored list?

  1. wow… all those names are terrible ideas! Adrien Brody? Terrible. I couldn’t buy his military portrayal in Predators, Splice was awful (him anyway), and I think he needs to stick with dramatic and speaking roles only, no action. The least painful sounding one there is Nathan Fillion only because the man always seems to surprise me with his knock-it-out-of-the-park performances.

  2. I’m afraid I have to disagree with Jake in this matter. Out of the list of names above I was least excited about the prospect of Adrian Brody playing Bruce Banner. After seeing the horrible film “Splice,” I hope to never see him in a lab coat again.
Nathan Fillion’s name really excited me, however. I hear he’s being courted for “Ant Man”(though I’m completely unfamiliar with that character) but this could be another way for Whedon to squeeze in his favorite leading man.
Overall, this speculation isn’t that fun. I just wish Norton and the studio dudes would just make up. Some continuity would really make this franchise better. We already had to put up with Don Cheadle this year…
