Cleopatra Eyes Angelina Jolie

There are few iconic women in history who are known for their beauty and presence as Cleopatra, so it was only fitting that they would want Angelina Jolie for the lead role.

ScreenJunkies says:

Oscar winning producer Scott Rudin has set his sights on Angelina Jolie for an upcoming adaptation of Cleopatra: A Life. Like the book by Stacy Schiff, the film promises to be a detailed look at one of antiquity’s most famous women.

Jolie has the skin tone and sharp angular looks to easily take the beating hearts of men just as the legendary Cleopatra did. But aside from looking all kinds of pretty in the garb of that era, Jolie can act.

So I look forward to seeing if she does with this as long as she doesn’t look like a skeleton. That “too skinny” thing is just unattractive even on her.

  1. Milling company in ChinaI wanted to thank you for this great read!! I definitely enjoyed every little bit of it, I have you bookmarked to check out all the new stuff you post.

  2. I think people forget that because of Cleopatra being a woman ruler, this caused a feeling of resentment in Roman society- especially with her liason with Julius Caesar, hense she was vilified as being unattractive -there is a bust of her,and it shows that she was quite pretty except for a sight bump on her nose. As for Angelina.. if only someone would take a look at the bust of Nefertiti, and compare it with Angelina -the resemblence is uncanny!!

  3. when i saw Monica Belluci as Cleopatra in Asterix movie… VAVA VOOM! Now that a woman that can melt the heart of most stoic man like hot knife to butter.

  4. well guys … actually cleopatra was not beautiful at all.. but she was an intelligent woman who knew how to trick and manipulate men.. but the film industry gave as the impression of a really goodlooking woman o=in order to attract the audience as awlways .. on the other hand angelina joie is one of the most beautiful women alive.. so the comparison doesnt make any sense…

  5. Well Let’s hope that Angie gets the role of Cleopatra, otherwise i can just see the 2nd choice being little Angie-Megan Fox.

Which wouldn’t be a bad idea look-wise, but for a great portrayal of Cleopatra would require great acting.

    1. That made no sense whatsoever.

Why would they fall back on Megan Fox if they couldnt get their top choice?

Because in one picture where their makeup and hair were styled similarily they looked alike? That is your basis for fallback casting?

You are grasping at straws here. If they can’t secure Jolie, they will go to another actor, not the one you throw under the bus so you can bandstand about how you don’t like Fox.

      1. Hey now, the comment went wrong an became more of a bad joke. I am one of the guys who really likes Megan Fox celebrity status, i just meant that she gets high top role offers, like one being Lara croft which was played by Angelina Jolie and for the third installment/reboot they offered the role to Megan Fox.

And they bear a resemblance to each other to me not a strong one but just kinda have something that makes Megan seem like a young Jolie of today.Such as back tattoos, lips, eyes an style, could just be certain photos though.

thats not what cleo did….you need to Wiki

she was ugly and had a giant nose

    1. And because Wiki is so reliable.

In her time Cleopatra was the most sought after and coveted beauty, even if by today’s standards she wouldn’t be all that appealing.

The LEGEND of Cleopatra’s appeal and beauty (as well as political positioning) is the basis of this book, and therefore a beautiful woman would be appropriate to play her to convey to modern audiences that she had appeal.

      1. On one hand Rodney is right. Wiki is not a reliable source of information even though it is very popular. However, I did check the sources on her page and they are reliable. Ancient Rome is my area of expertise if anyone is questioning this. However, Cleopatra was not the beauty Shakespeare wrote her as. Even by today’s standards she would not be considered good looking. Her nose was big too. Her skin tone would have been darker due where she lived but a tan can fix that for Jolie. What did make her attractive to men was her intellect and her sexual seductive manner. Only men of high political rank could truly obtain her affection such as Julius Caesar and Mark Antony. That should not suggest she didnt fool around with other men (or women) of lower social status. However, relationships were made with her in order to gain control of Egypt. Egypt had one of the largest supplies of grain and Rome wanted that. Also, she actually was Macedonian (Northern Greek, where Alexander the Great was from) not Egyptian and incestous. They should put that in the movie. I fully agree though that casting Jolie is the correct move. It is a huge compliment to Cleopatra even though she was a brute.

      2. Wait a minute here. Ugly, dark and has a big nose? I think Rosario Dawson could portray Cleopatra very accurately. Screw Angelina and her pale, smalled-nosed, pretty ass!
