TCM’s 31 Days of Oscar Party Pack Contest!

Turner Classic Movies channel is presenting an impressive string of classic films in honour of the Oscars that will span 31 days. The scheduling is designed so that each movie is linked to the next movie in the lineup through a shared actor.

Turner Classic Movies presents:

31 DAYS OF OSCAR will begin Monday, Feb. 1, at 6 a.m. (ET) with Kevin Bacon and James Coco in Only When I Laugh (1981). Coco and Harry Andrews will then be featured in The Man of La Mancha (1972) at 8:15 a.m., followed by Andrews in 55 Days at Peking (1963) at 10:30 a.m. The festivities will continue linking from movie to movie, one star at a time, throughout the month. The final movie in the festival, Diner (1982), starring Bacon, will bring the entire month full circle.

I like how they are linking each film one to another in their broadcast to the previous film. As a frequent player of the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon game (it is theorized that any actor in Hollywood can be connected to Kevin Bacon in six steps or less) I like that they are starting and ending the string with him.

I like to concatenate films by a common thread, and this is a clever way to organize a heaping pile of films in an unprecedented string of movie connections for a full 31 days of successive classic films.

I just found out about it this weekend, so I missed the first week of it, but the press release of films is impressive. Check out the list at Turner Classic Movies

Turner has also offered me an “Oscar Party Package” that I can share with one of the international friends as a prize!

TCM Oscar Party pack – complete with popcorn, candy, a martini shaker, coasters and more!

How do you win it?

We are going to play Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon!! You must connect the actor with Kevin Bacon in as few steps as possible. For Example, Julia Roberts has a Bacon number of 1. She stared in Mystic Pizza with Bacon. However Elvis Presley was in Change of Habit (1969) with Edward Asner and Edward Asner was in JFK (1991) with Kevin Bacon. This makes Presley’s Bacon Number of 2.

Here is the Challenge! Daniel Radcliffe

Leave your answer in the comments. The winner will be randomly chosen from those who determines the lowest Bacon Number for Dan Radcliffe will win the prize. You must use your REAL email address commenting to be contacted for the win!

Good luck! And check out the 31 Days of Oscar films on Turner Classic Movies

  1. Gary Oldman was also with Kevin Bacon in a movie called Criminal Law in 1988 and of course Oldman
starred with Daniel Ratcliff in 3 Harry Potter movies(Order of the Phoenix,Goblet of Fire, and Prisoner of Azkaban)

  2. Hmmm….this depends on how technical you want to get with this. Because technically, there was a documentary in 2006 or 2007 called BOFFO about the film industry and it featured archive footage of both Kevin Bacon and Daniel Radcliffe (though both are uncredited for it). Otherwise, Kevin Bacon and Gary Oldman in JFK…Gary Oldman and Daniel Radcliffe in HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAM.

    1. Keep making suggestions!

The winner will be chosen from those with the lowest number. So right off the bat 2 is the Bacon Number to match. Winner will be chosen at the end of the day.

      If you can!
