Toy Story 3 Star Cameo in Up! Have we found it?

Pixar films have long since had a tradition of dropping Easter Eggs into their movies showing cameos of characters from their other films, sometimes before they even come out.

The Pizza Planet Truck is the biggest repeated Easter Egg, first appearing in Toy Story, then in Monster’s inc it is parked outside the camper trailer that Randall is banished to, and is the location for the bug zapper in Bug’s Life and also appears in Ratatouille, and Wall-E. I could go on forever.

So in the grand tradition, Pixar is going to introduce us to another future star of Toy Story 3 in this summer’s Up!

MTV Movies Blog says:

“On ‘Monsters [Inc.]’, when Sulley is putting Boo back in her room, and he’s going to say goodbye to her, she hands him all these toys,” saidd Pete Docter, a director on “Up” and “Monsters,” and a writer on the “Toy Story” films. “One of them was this fish – which was Nemo – but nobody knew it at the time, because ‘[Finding] Nemo’ hadn’t come out yet. We have a similar thing [in ‘Up’].”

He didn’t want to say what/who the new toy character is, but he then gives us enough hints:

“There’s a shot where a little girl is in her room and the house goes by,” the producer said of a seemingly simple reaction scene near the beginning of the film, in which a young girl is surprised by the flying house soaring past her bedroom. “She’s playing with her toys. She’s playing with her little plane. She gets up, and she looks [out the window] – under her bed is one of the new stars of ‘Toy Story 3’.”

So with that said and my tireless finger on the pause button I think I have found him in the second teaser Trailer for Up!

Also notice the Luxo Ball (another Pixar staple) on the floor next to the girl’s plane. Unless they plan on adding something in there later (there is nothing else under that bed), I think we can expect to see a pink teddy bear making its debut in Toy Story 3!

    1. The Incredibles sequel is coming, I have faith in it. They would be crazy not to do a 2nd one. If it’s not their next movie after Toy Story 3, will probably be the one after that.

But on the other hand, you gotta love how creative Pixar is and that they can do so many different types of movies and they all turn out pretty good. Instead of just making sequels over and over again of a hand full of films, like what most of Hollywood does now a days.

  1. Nice investigative work Rodney! There isn’t a teddy bear present in the storyline yet, so it makes sense to have one… Seeing as how every child has a teddy.

  2. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was some sort of Build-a-Bear nod. The company’s been around for 11 years, and is now a playroom staple. With the way they like to use actual brands as side characters (Little Tike, Barbie) it’s not too far of a stretch that he’d be from the actual Build-a-Bear brand.

Working for the company I haven’t heard anything about it yet. However Build-a-Bear does have an extensive contract with Disney that includes Buzz, Woody, and Jesse costumes, and has done movie tie-ins before (Shrek, Happy Feet, Surf’s Up, Rudolph, Frosty the Snowman, Sesame Street).

    1. Lots-o-Huggins Bear, the pink bear sown above, does make an apperence in toy story 3. H is the villain in this soon-to-be classic children’s movie!

      1. Thanks for stating the obvious. This article is over a year old, and the trailers have showed Huggins dozens of times before the movie even came out – which it did last week and was reviewed on this site.
