Jason Statham Joins “The Mechanic” Remake

We’ve been hearing for some time that a remake of the old Charles Bronson movie “The Mechanic” was in the works. We’ve also been hearing for a while that Sylvester Stallone would be filling in for Bronson… but apparently that’s not true. Word has come out that the man replacing Bronson will be modern action star Jason Statham (most recently seen in Crank 2).

The original The Mechanic was a pretty decent flick, though it’s been a long time since I saw it last. The idea: “A professional hit man is planning to retire, always a difficult move for one in such a profession. A young apprentice appears to be eager to learn all the skills of the trade – but is that all he wants?”.

I think this is a good film to remake too. Solid story, pretty exciting and most of today’s movie going audience haven’t seen it, so it would be introducing it to a whole new audience.

I dig hitman films, I dig the original, I dig Statham, so yeah I’m down with this.

  1. It absolutely disgusts me to see this brilliant movie being perverted! the 2000’s standards of “new” films are retardead REMAKE fakes. If ya make a film in the 2000’s, then stick with the 2000’s boring unorigional standards tards.(which I guess is what you ARE doing, considering most movies these days ARE remakes of classicks because jews don’t have a goddamn origional idea…at least none that guarantee 100% profit) Leeches thats the movie industry today …got dang fraidy catt imbosiles!! The 70’s rule and there is no place for these wanna be Bronson/JMVs. Tell me this remake queers…..Why remake a masterpiece???????/ WHY??????

  2. Question is, who are they going to pick as they apprentice? I really hope it’s a decent up and coming actor. Even though Statham is decent at roles like this, I still think that if the character is going to “retire”, they should’ve probably picked someone a bit older. Unless the writers come up with a different reason for his retirement. I just watched this movie the other day, Bronson is the man. I’ve heard Walter Hill was trying to get a Hard Times remake off the ground as well.

  3. In my opinion theydon’t do enough good “hitman” movies. so it’ll be exciting to see what they do with this Charles Bronson classic.

  4. This is SO Statham, I mean it just screams his name, and the storyline fits . He’s a great actor but I have to wonder is he ever going to be more than an action star?

And yeah I’m down with this too, it sounds awesome
